No one expected us to be in a race before the season started, with our signings (or lack of). We have done well to reach where we are, but there is a lack of belief and one or two quality players to bridge the gap. We should have taken advantage of Liverpool's defensive crisis for example in that match (as teams that have attacked them more have shown) and have more nous to prevent our numerous last minute draws (Leicester and Everton).
The disappointment comes from elevated hopes, but if we can finish in a strong second place and with a trophy, it represents progress. Still, anything can happen in this strange season, need to sort our defence out to keep challenging. In some ways, we are like Liverpool before van dijk/Allison a few seasons ago?
