I'm sure there are plenty of people moaning. It's the same with every game released. I'm also sure that there are as many people, if not more, who aren't having any disconnection issues at all.

Each game is different in the way it handles MP connections. Therefore it's to be expected that people may have problems with one game and not others. This doesn't mean that the game is broken.

My point is that if everyone was having the same trouble then you can blame the game. I would bet that the majority aren't....but they aren't going to go shouting about it on the internet, are they?
 
So my connection issues are with just this one game, but it's still my connection and not the game/servers which are the problem? Sorry mate that doesnt add up.

I and many others sometimes have connection issues with FIFA but no problems with other games. Does that mean FIFA is broken in this respect? No, not at all. I know that my router, in it's current configuration, has issues with FIFA's MP connection protocols. That's my problem. I am pretty certain (i'm no technical ITK) that anyone having connection issues with COD is experiencing a similar situation. This doesn't mean that the game is broken.

Now, what definitely doesn't add up is people saying that the game is broken when only a minority are having an issue.

As i said, i'm no techie expert, i'm just being logical.

The amount of people complaining about this issue backs up my confidence that the game is broken. Combine this with online play being unaffected with other games, combined with the amount of people suffering from the exact same issue would strongly suggest to me it is broken.

I don't think Brocky is playing Devil's advocate here, if the numbers are solid there's over 7million copies out there. A few thousand people having issues is in fact a minority. As he said, the people with a working game don't go around shouting about it online.

Sorry but that link is hardly concrete proof that the game is broken, is it? That is what i was alluding to.

Again, the fact that people aren't having issues with other games is completely irrelevant as different games handle their MP connection protocols differently. This is then different again between platforms.

And again, i am confident that there are more people not having a problem than there are people who are....so basing your theory on the amount of people complaining is completely pointless.

So there is no reasoning whatsoever behind your statement "Trust me, the game is broken".

My point is how can the game be broken when it's a minority that are having problems? If it was fundamentally broken then it'd be the same for everyone, right?

I couldn't give a stuff about playing devil's advocate, i'm simply being logical.

Just changed my last killstreak to a chopper gunner (9 kills), start a game on Havana with my silenced W2000, get to 8-0 and a guy walks out into the street right in my sights... Connection lost.

Edit: Oh and actually, i can go one better than having my dad work for the company....i work for Virgin Media (Nick's ISP, i am presuming) and have been in Broadband tech support fixing those 70% of local 'connection' issues for years.

It's got issues, I don;t understand why people are so adamant when defending something they have no affiliation with and should demand as much bang for their buck as they can. Yet they seem happy to ignore things like the shot reg, the unbelievably retarded melee system and the fact that it's a worse online experience than the last one. I'm still playing it but I find it a massive let down for one of the games of the year.

I still don't have a problem with the melee attacks. It is COD, it has always been like this. I also prefer the online to MW2.

However, to say there are no online issues is just wrong. There clearly are. And I imagine Treyarch will patch them in the near future.

I have no reason to 'defend' the game. Once again, i'm just being logical. Try it.

Use a bit of common sense and admit to yourself that it can't be a broken game if only a minority are having problems and that opinion may change.

Lance, I know the melee hasn't changed, I just can't believe how any developer can defend including it as part of their game.

I'm 32 years old. I've been playing games since before FPS were even invented. I've played pretty much every FPS you could think of.

Last i checked we were discussing a game that was broken due to connection issues....not general bugs that make it rough around the edges.

Yes it has bugs, it's laggy and desynched, what modern FPS isn't in it's opening week?

Is the game broken because a minority are having trouble connecting? No.

I'm not on Virgin Broadband, Brocky, I'm on BT. We got a free upgrade to the fibre optic a few weeks back and it's been brilliant.

Also, there have been a few games recently where the connection had been lost and everyone in the game was back in the pre-game lobby and the scores were all reset to zero and the counter started at 60 seconds to another game. That's everyone in the game who must have router issues rather than it being the game.

As an aside, had anyone else had any cases where kills or deaths are not recorded? I joined a game earlier and was killed twice very quickly because someone had a chopper but when I checked the scores it showed me as 0-0-0. Very weird.

I remember getting a great start in modern warfare 2 - my score was 11 or 13 kills (however many chopper gunner was) to 0 deaths, while everyone else was on maximum 4 kills. I was on fire. Just before I used my chopper gunner it starter lagging and host migration started. I was a bit annoyed but it was cool, I'll just destroy them when the host has migrated. Game restarts, I check my kills - all my stats on 0. I guess it's just loading up. I press the button to get my chopper gunner up - nothing happens. What? Team scores come up now, so I check my stats again. My stats are all on 0 and my chopper gunner is gone, but everyone else's stats have been restored.

I had to laugh.
