Official : Carlo Ancelotti sacked by Real Madrid

I think the notion of sacking managers on a stand of principal, as a form of punishment, is a barmy concept.

If Perez and the Madrid board genuinely believe that they have a better alternative to Ancelotti then so be it. But I don't see any that stand out.

Basically, they're going to replace Ancelotti with an inferior man because they have to be seen to punish a disappointing campaign. It's a really odd way to run a club.

What does that even mean? Who else qualifies as "the elite manager" then?! He's won 3 CL titles, only the 2nd manager ever to do so. And let's be honest, you can't even compare how difficult it is to achieve to those days.
But his league record is quite poor.

 why would anyone bend over backwards to join them? I really don't see the appeal with them unlike the Sudamericans. There an absolute joke and their fans aren't much better. Even objectively (promise!), there's about three teams I'd rather join than Real. Bayern, United and Barcelona.

AC Milan remain the only club that Ancelotti has managed for more than 2 seasons.

Bayern have their replacement for Pep now after Carlo takes a year to learn German.

Are they seriously going for Benitez? I don't see the logic at all. Klopp?

So has Wenger.

Take it he's not elite too.
They're different type of managers, one has stayed with a single club for ages, the other has travelled to different clubs, worked with different boards and played in different leagues. Both situations have their challenges, but I'd find it bizarre that anyone could argue that Ancelotti is not an 'elite' manager. He's one of the very best out there.

Surely there'll come a point where they run out of top managers they can hire who they haven't already sacked?

I hope the Rafa rumours are true then.

He's got 3 league titles in 20 years.
Wenger has about as many titles in as many years or more, without those European honors. I'm sure he'd be considered among the elites by most people if not all. Not even Fergie was able to manage as many European cups. In this day and age, you can't expect managers to win both the league and the cups too many times.

Ancelotti's underwhelming league record is definitely something to take into consideration, but he's certainly one of the elite managers in the game today.

Few managers go totally unscathed throughout their career's. They all have weaknesses.

Has Wenger managed the top club for most of those 20 years?

No. No, he hasn't.

So Arsenal aren't a top club in England?

You look at his time in Italy. He got the best out of a old team, whilst Inter and Juve were spending like crazy at times.

If Rafa goes to Real Madrid, I give it 3 months before Ronaldo and Bale start moaning or eyeing up their next venture. Joke.

But seriously, all Real want are yes men.

Its poor i'll give you that, but when you think he's been up against some good teams its not as bad as it appears.

They could have won the league too if they spent on getting a good midfield insurance for Modric instead of adding another layer of silver paint in attack with Rodriguez. Absolute stupidity but knowing these clowns they would jump off a 10th floor balcony and land on their feet with someone like Klopp.

A single Scudetto in 8 years with that team is not enough, IMO.

Deja vu.

Its insane how fickle clubs have become nowadays.

The more a club revolves around buying stars and thus, trophies, the more impatient they are. it makes sense. Money are expected to deliver "the goods" instantaneously.

I wanted him when we got Moyes instead. Fantastic manager, but he knew what Madrid was like when he signed. I'm sure he's going to walk into another great job and win more trophies.

Ancelotti was a yes man. That was his downfall, didn't have the balls to rest/rotate the big names (or drop them when out of form).

He knew what he was getting into. It's not like he had a 6 year plan, like Moyesy.

That is true and precisely why Ancelotti didn't win the league, because he was a yes man. He didn't rest Bale in the big games where it was obvious he was struggling. They lost the league due to their poor record against the top 4 teams. On the other hand if he wasn't a yes man he'd still have been fired for not obeying. Damn if you do, damn if you don't.
