I wouldn’t feel safe until I see what he does after three bottom half league seasons, or even better, a straight drop to league one. Can he beat Lou Macari’s Swindon record of three straight promotions? (Barring fraud.)

Won't proof anything until United move to Italy and end Juventus' domination there.

His years in Manchester United had such a big impact on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer so the only lesson he’s been teaching his children is “express yourself”. Nothing else.

EDIT: This was supposed to be in the Weird feelings thread but I couldn’t delete it so I’ll just leave it here.

Mourinho is not a bad man imo. He is very very proud though. That makes him a big tit from time to time.
Not sure anyone said he is, he is a classless cnut, he was before United gig, during and after, thats all.

You are my Solskjær
My Ole Solskjær
You make me happy
When skies are grey
Feck off, Mourinho
And Pochettino
Please don’t take
Our Solskjær away
You are my Solskjaer has taken a back seat after Ole's at the wheel gained popularity. I hope it is not forgotten, I love that song more :)

At this stage, having any other manager is going to be risky. Solskjaer has assembled a good coaching team. He has motivated the players to play well, exhibited tactical flexibility, and gotten us on the right track. If another manager comes in (a.k.a Poch), there is no guarantee that he will retain the likes of Phelan, Mckenna, and the rest. Firing them would be highly disruptive and catastrophic. Furthermore, Ole is United through and through. I say give him the job.

"When the opportunity arises... seize it like Solksjaer".

Great interview, although the interviewer is an oddball.

He just took our worst start to the PL and made it into the 2nd best since SAF left in just over 2 months.

Honestly if anybody took over after Ole now, they'd be under even more pressure if they had a poor start.

I just don't see how Pochettino could come in and do a better job.

From October 14th 2017 to 16th December 2018 our Goal Difference was +21, that run of time consisted of 48 Premier League Games. We scored 3 or more goals in 8 of those 48 games.

Since Ole's been in charge we've played 12 games and our Goal Difference is +20. We've scored 3 or more goals in 6 of those games.

Staggering.

No matter what stat you compare since SAF retired to Ole's 16 games in charge, the response is always staggering.

But when you consider that the players Ole has are almost exactly the same to the players Jose had during that period... dear god, what the feck happened. I mean when you look at that stat, Jose had almost a whole seasons worth of games (36 more than Ole) and still only managed +1 GD difference.

One of the biggest thing I've liked about him is willingness to forgive mistakes, especially by a younger player. I couldn't have imagined Perreira getting another first team start under Mourinho after his mistake against Burnley.
Or the death stare LVG gave Giggs when Chicha missed

He seem to make every question about ten times more dramatic than it should be.

Edit: He's actually annoying. I'd kill for a transcript of this.

Then he continued to play Rooney for months on end. Utterly daft.

When you look at the failures of our last three managers, they’ve all made baffling decisions which they failed to rectify until it’s too late. Moyes with the backroom staff, LVG failing to realize Rooney was past it and Mourinho throwing his best players under the bus. Ole on the other hand has so far kept things simple and done the bleeding obvious, which is to everyone’s amazement working.

We had one of the best defenses in the league in each of LVG and Jose's first two seasons. We just now conceded one goal more this season than in any of our previous four seasons (LVG's first season of 37 was highest, we're now on 38). Something fundamentally broke down between Jose and the players. We looked a lot worse after Rui left but I'm not blaming it on that. I seriously think Jose's player management and the way he calls out players in the media and essentially states our players are not good enough to challenge for the title made the players slack off. Anyway, thank feck he's gone. Such a difference with Ole in charge. I can't get enough of him at the moment.

I think what he did, and still doing is awesome. I hope it will last for a very, very long time.

I thought he articulated his questions well and had obviously done a lot of work prior to the interview. Different strokes, I guess.
I only watched the ten minute segment, but he seemed so fixated on this idea of a dramatic fairy tale turnaround it was rather grating. Hell, a lot of it was straight up incorrect, especially when he went on about the improvement of individual players. Just ask normal questions, no need to make a story around every single one. Ole is an interesting interviewee on his own right and the last few months of form are nothing short of incredible, given the context, so I'm not sure why there is a need to introduce this idea how "Ole personally escorted the eleven brave warriors from the gates of Hades" or whatever in every single sentence.

It will be this exact same language that will be used if, God forbid, Ole doesn't work out, which will be significantly more annoying. I don't really look forward to a hypothetical Guardian article describing how "could United fell to the charms of a false prophet who already doomed the Bluebirds in the west and is now taking apart the Red Devils with his weak, insipid ideas and a lack of strong character that was always going to be exposed in a toxic dressing room plagued by self interest which even managed to swallow a seasoned professional such as Mourinho etc." You get the idea and I'm a terrible writer. Hype someone up only to tear them down.

It’s going to be extremely hard for anyone to follow up if we finish top 4 and Ole doesn’t get it. Imagine if we finish 3rd! No way Poch should get it.

More importantly, I think he’s putting together a structure (even if done hastily in 1-2 months) which will become difficult to break and rebuild under a new manager.

The job is his. I’ve got no doubt in it.

Even if he misses out of Top 4, he started from 11 points behind.

Knocked Arsenal and Chelsea out of the FA Cup too.

PSG was a huge task even without Neymar and Veratti and our tactics were destroyed by injuries and a Pogba suspension.

That shouldn't even be used against him. When he joined I had completely given up hope of the top 4, and just wanted him to get us playing decent football again with some confidence. The fact we could potentially even finish 3rd is astounding.

I don’t know why people even talk about it as a possibility. It’s inconceivable that he doesn’t get it. The fans would mutiny, the players would be pissed off, Phelan/Carrick/McKenna would probably be lost to the reshuffle, whichever manager comes in would be seen as a failure if he gets off to a worse start than Ole and be under immense pressure (more than normal). The risk is too high and there doesn’t seem to be any reason to take it.

It’s out of the question. He’s getting the job. Only reason they are stalling is probably to decide on the whole manager vs head coach responsibilities and DoF structure.

IF United somehow beat PSG he better sign a contract with United in the dressing room not to mention if he gets top 4 and wins the FA Cup. I really hope he does this man deserves it. Such a likable character.
