On this day, 8 years ago, Alex did this...

Maybe a thread to post interesting goals "on this day X years ago" going forward. Maybe nobody will be bothered and it'll just be this post.

On a serious note, what a free kick, but who the hell is/was Alex ?

Was a pretty decent CB. Came to Chelsea in about 2004 but couldn't get work permit so they just loaned him to PSV for a few years and he did well in CL for them.

Then came to Chelsea in 2007 although him and Ben Haim were just back ups to Terry and Carvalho. Think he then went to PSG. Some caps for Brazil aswell.

Just a few days too late for Balotelli’s “Why always me?” goal :(

Great strike in the OP though.

I don't know why watching Alex makes me feel old... It wasn't even that long ago.

One this day three years ago, what was Zouma reacting to?

April 22 marked 6 years to the day since Manchester United sacked 'The Chosen One'.

On this day, Kanu scored this goal against Middlesbrough in 1999

And Rooney scored this goal against Newcastle in 2005:

A day too late, but Dirk Kuyt brought the title to Rotterdam 3 years ago with a hattrick against Heracles. Great scenes.

@KirkDuyt what a player :drool:

Hahaha, God I was happy we decided that 1 quickly. The game before we completely bottled it against our satellite club Excelsior, losing 3-0. We needed to win this one to get the title.

Shame it was Kuyt though, sanctimonious prick.

Nice goal, hadn't seen that one before.

A year ago today we fecked city...and it was the last time we had full stadiums in the league.
A year on still no fans but still bitch slapping city.

Chelsea really ripped them apart the first 20 mins
