Sanctity, like a cat, abhors filth.
Not so much our record as Mourinho's, but I read today that the last CL knockout game that Mourinho won was knocking us out of the CL with Real Madrid.

He's got a big reputation in Europe but actually its been a while since he proved himself.

Chelsea beat Galatasaray and PSG in 2014.

Indeed. I just reread the article and it was the last away win. Apologies.
Yeah, in any case the way Chelsea limped out against Atletico that year struck me at the time as very un-Mourinho like, and the following season against PSG suggested he may have lost the CL knack he once had.

When you realise Moyes did a better job in the CL than Mourinho. feck sake.
I wouldn't give Moyes any credit whatsoever. That was still Fergie's team, Moyes didn't have nothing to do with that. The senior players ran the team themselves, nobody was listening to Moyes, and rightfully so.

If the move to Madrid had gone through he'd be a back to back CL winner by now. I'm not sure how much longer he can persist with this mediocrity year in year out. This is someone who deserves to be fighting for the biggest honours.
I was only thinking of this today . Iam not really up on modern football but I'd say he is one of the best keepers in the world . Am I right ?

If you really think about, he never really had that CL knack. Him winning it once with Porto and once with Inter were remarkable achievements, especially with Inter knocking out the great Barca team that beat us in two finals. But, that's pretty much it. He never reached any other final, not with Chelsea and not with Madrid. We also knocked his Inter out back in 2009 fairly easily, dominating them home and away. Reaching two finals in 14 years, I wouldn't call him some CL specialist or anything like that.

United are 15th in the latest European club rankings, Seville are 8th, above every English team.
Get real folks, United lost, it could have gone either way, but United are NOT better than Seville. Once Fellaini went off and Pogba came on, Seville's midfield had acres of room to run into. Pogba is rubbish, simple.

That's not true at all.

Edit: someone already pointed it out. Sorry

Well we've been managed by Moyes, LVG and Jose in a relatively rough period so it's not unexepected.

Sir Alex was at the end of a 26 year reign. Standards tend to slip in such scenarios but we still were robbed against a very good madrid team who we out performed.

I'm sorry but it doesn't really make Jose's comments any better. The standards Moyes and LVG were a low point for the club, not the expectation.

I knew we should've kept Moyes.
We should rehire him then. His contract with WH is just months way to run out

Mourinho used to have a streak of reaching quarter final (and more often than not go to semi final) of European competitions. It's similar record we have from late 90s and early 2000 before the 05/06 season where we finished bottom of the group. CL is very hard to win in this age. As Mourinho explained reaching quarter final gives underdog teams boost in belief they may make miraculous victory. So to be regular Quarter finalist is solid building block.
