Television Overrated TV series

Sopranos. Gave up after episode 3 of season 1. Just thought it was really dull.
The Wire. I actually finished it and enjoyed it. Just dont see how it rated as one of the best of all time though.
Chernobyl. Boring.

only some of the best rated shows out there. always laugh when Z is in an episode.Careful. There’s some weird psychotic love for the wire on here. You can go F yourself on Sopranos though.

Breaking Bad is probably my GOAT. Watching Ozark at the moment and enjoying it.
Haha exactly. I'd wanted to watch Sopranos for years because of how highly its rated but never got round to it. I started watching it probably 2 months ago and watched the first 3 eps in the same evening. Nothing about it made me want to go back to it. Tbh, I probably would have gone back to it had i been watching alone but the wife didn't like it.

Ha. The reason I watched it is because a lad I worked with was obsessive about it. Had watched it through in double digits.
You have to be careful though, too much and the ratios off.
Going to Ireland is the worst decision any American show can make.
They might as well just have a gif of a leprechaun shaking a shillelagh and dancing a jig on repeat while shouting fiddedly dee potatoes
It's always a bad idea to watch something based off the recommendation of an obssessive fan, it tends to lead to disappointed. Some lads in work were banging on about how amazing Breaking Bad was for years. When I eventually watched it, I gave up after season 1 or shortly into season 2. I just couldn't see what the fuss was about but then they'd let slip one or two spoilers so certain shock moments weren't much of a surprise. I also hated Jesse's character.
Serious question, if you don't really rate these, what do you rate?
Almost as if people have good taste.
Sons of Anarchy, I stuck with it until the end but it was not as good as the Shield (same writer/producer) and the ending was a bit of a let down.
The Blacklist, I didn't finish season 1. I love Spader in Boston Legal (one if the greatest TV shows) but even he can't polish that turd.
Killing Eve. Stopped caring mid season 2. Only continued to watch it for Jodie Cromer....

I'm not saying it's a bad show. Just not one of my favourites. I'd pick sopranos over tbh.
Are those shows really overrated though? I think everyone knows SoA is basically Grey's Anatomy for men, the Blacklist is your run of the mill cheap case of the week show (I'm really hooked on Spader's acting as well, so was eager to give it a shot, too. But the writing is just too dumb) and while Killing Eve started out as a very interesting proposition from what I remember the show's thread turned sour somewhere between mid s2 and s3 as well.
Yeah i do still watch the blacklist but if you take Spader away then it is awful . In the recent finale they had to complete it by animation because of covid and when you don't have his actung it is truly terrible.

Friends and Breaking Bad are popular choices on here. Can't really get into Breaking Bad and I've watched Friends and thought it was good but nowhere near as good as people make it out to be.
Would probably add Game of Thrones which I did like but found it boring at times and don't really think it justifies the hype. Black Mirror is pretty hit and miss, love the show but feel like there's definitely a bad episode for every fantastic one.

I did like the Wire, just didnt understand it's God status. As for things I've liked; Breaking Bad, GoT (aside from the appalling ending), Sons, Luther, Line of Duty. Dunno, there's loads I've enjoyed.
Black Mirror is indeed very hit and miss but i think that's the general consensus. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on which eps are the best though, which is interesting.

I think overrated is a difficult term. Critically acclaimed shows you didnt like is better mostly.

Breaking bad - I really enjoyed the show, but I do think it gets way over hyped
