It will be more costly than the other two potentially but I think Dybala is a good move for all parties. If we're going to splurge close to 100 mil on a single attacker then surely Dybala is likelier to be a success for us than the likes of Felix or Sancho?
Admittedly I've only seen the odd match or two (and some highlights) of Felix and Sancho but it's much greater risk to sign a teenager with just a season behind them than a still-young Dybala who has seasons of work.
The pressure on Felix or Sancho to be an immediate saviour here will be huge whilst if Dybala is leaving a much better Juve team to join us to be the main-man then he's probably going to thrive on it.
I'd rather buy a younger right-back and centre-mid, and spend big on a ready-made attacker and centre-back.
I'm also partial to a tenacious little Argie.
What does everyone else think?
If we sign them then don't think it will be as winger. He will either play as 10 or 9 (like Lingard played under Ole)Quality player but how would he fit here? Unless i'm mistaken he's better as a 10 and not a proper Winger, We already have toooo many of those false wingers.
Yep, either as a no.10, part of strike duo, or as a false 9. We will be our best choice to start at the head of a 433 too as I think he will be the best at holding up the ball in that role among our current options. If we sign them then don't think it will be as winger. He will either play as 10 or 9 (like Lingard played under Ole)
Thanks. If we sign them then don't think it will be as winger. He will either play as 10 or 9 (like Lingard played under Ole)
Really? Atletico? I don't think they'll fork out the quoted 80-100 mil on a single player even they'll sell Griezmann for 125mil.Athletico Madrid or Bayern bound.
The same was said about Di Maria, look how that one turned out. Absolutely no guarantee's he'd be our best player whatsoeverIt's funny that some people don't want him. He'd be our best player.
Fits in?I just want to know where he fits in?
Where Lingard and Mata play.I just want to know where he fits in?
Think everyone forgets how electric Di Maria was for the first 5-10 games he played. But then all the situations started happening and it wasn't the same and he left, nightmare. The same was said about Di Maria, look how that one turned out. False 9, flanked by Rashford/Martial and a new right-sided attacker.I just want to know where he fits in?
Been scarred and burnt so many times with star players coming in and underperforming. Di Maria, Schweinsteiger, Sanchez, Lukaku ("star" to an extent). Pogba has been decent though, despite what the naysayers think. It's funny that some people don't want him. He'd be our best player.
Seems fine, as long as he plays a central attacking position, he wont kick up a fuss. He would expect title challenges soon though, not sure we can offer that. Buying Dybala only would work if we improve the team as well, bringing him in with another 2-3 players wont do much. We need to fix our right wing, fullback, CB and midfield issues and bring him in as the cherry on top IMO. He would improve us though and maybe be the catalyst for bringing us back to the top, but only in a functioning team. Then he also has the platform to win us games by himself, as well as improving the team. How is his attitude? Thats all I care about, don't want another Di Maria or Pogba in this side.
He would play the false 9 in our 4-3-3 if that’s what we persist with next season. He isn’t a midfielder. He’s a striker or a second striker like Rooney.Unless Ole is planning to change our current formation I just don't see how Dybala fits in to it. This to me is bringing in a name over and above a coherent long term strategy. Ole seems to prefer 4-3-3 if that's the case, Dybala seem to excel as a 10, he cant play wide and isnt a no.9. So I don't see how he fits in, we have Mata as well. I would agree Dybala is a big upgrade on Mata but it looks like he is staying put and having both of them makes no sense.
Or he has faith in his ability and sees himself of being capable of contributing to the project. Plus a bit of money.Dybala to leave his guaranteed trophy a season club with guaranteed CL for the worst United side for many a year, to play Europa and hope the likes of a Wolves and Watford don’t overtake us. Bet he is chomping at the bit. No way this happens unless he is purely money driven like Sanchez.
Do you really think Sanchez only came here for money? He blows but he at least tries unlike some caf golden boys in the squad. No players should want to come here currently. If we aren't offering more money, we'll literally fall behind Wolves by default because our "academy products" like Rashford and Lingard fail to take the next steps.Dybala to leave his guaranteed trophy a season club with guaranteed CL for the worst United side for many a year, to play Europa and hope the likes of a Wolves and Watford don’t overtake us. Bayern or Atletico are a possibility. Bayern are looking for some offensive spark and star quality, while Atletico a replacement for Griezmann.Or he has faith in his ability and sees himself of being capable of contributing to the project. Plus a bit of money.
Where else is he going to go?
This. Agent linking him to us to get a better deal with Atletico Madrid. He's born to play for them. In a country that speaks his language, for a coach from his country, who will be freshening things up with Greizmann, Diego Costa and Rodri so far leaving. With Griezmann now going, he's got A Madrid written all over him.
I think he'll be excellent playing the sort of role that Firmino does at Liverpool, though if we played him as false 9 we also need both our winger to score more goals. If we are going to play him as a false 9, it would be a good signing.
Well if we still used Rashford or Martial as a LF we can get goals out of them. I am not confident in either being a traditional number 9. We do need help from the fullbacks and need more width in general. We have seen how important Robertson and TAA have been for Liverpool.I think he'll be excellent playing the sort of role that Firmino does at Liverpool, though if we played him as false 9 we also need both our winger to score more goals.
Agree with this, I remember a few years back that there was a thread saying how important attacking fullbacks are for modern football. I don't remember in the last 10 years any top team with fullbacks as poor as ours.Well if we still used Rashford or Martial as a LF we can get goals out of them. Yeah. While Shaw is ok, he is nowhere near good enough going forward, especially when no one else offers us anything in wide positions. It hinders the team massively.Agree with this, I remember a few years back that there was a thread saying how important attacking fullbacks are for modern football.
