Are Tevez and Rooney fat?

Ronaldo has a defined lean body. Does this mean that he is stronger than the afforementioned duo? Or fitter?

If all three players do the same training, then why do Tevez and Rooney continue to look like Michelin men, yet Ronaldo resembles a bloody Adonis.

This is not a criticism, but a serious question.

Well at this level it's a question of morphology - if you look at Rooney and Tevez, they have a larger frame than Ronaldo and they are more stocky anyway.
You can see that Ronaldo was as thin as a pencil when he was a kid, so when he started packing on muscle he was still looking lean.

And as professional athletes they don't eat too much crap and they do lots of cardio work so it really comes down to morphology IMO. Rooney cannot look like Ronaldo.

It just the way it is.
Some people will never achieve "adonis" body's no matter what training they do.
Some people have natural definition.

....and no ,Tevez and Rooney aren't fat.

Fitness and strength are not dependant on BMI. Both Rooney and Tevez are possibly stronger than Ronaldo.

Its the same way a 40 year old skinny man can have a heart attack and 40 yr old morbidly obese guy wont.

Also looking like Ronnie involves having a low % body fat, this takes a different regime to achieve than ones for strength and aerobic fitness. Not to mention that each persons metabolism is slightly different

Rooney is naturally skewed towards endomorph/mesomorph. Some players have had problems with this eg Kevin Campbell became over-muscled, Andy Reid tub-o-lard. Last season I think Rooney was leaner, this season he seems a more comfortable body shape for him.

They have exactly proper physique to play in such a league as Premiership.

They're not fat.

Is it true that Rooney is not allowed to do weight training then? I think I once heard SAF say that because of his size he has no need to do extra.

In which case, how the feck is he so strong?

Interesting question but will probably end up gettting heated as soon as we start going down the road of genetics and fast and slow-twitch muscles etc. etc. The difference between the likes of Ron and Roo is clearly down to genetics, though. Some people are prone to laying down fat, some aren't.

It is strange the way footballers are supposed to have punishing fitness regimes but often seem to retain a fair amount of body-fat, while you never see a track and field athlete who doesn't have a six-pack, no matter what their size or shape (apart from, maybe shot-putters or other disciplines where they are actively encouraged to put on weight)

I remember hearing one of the GB sprint coaches talking about being asked to consult on training techniques for one of the big Premiership sides. When he presented them with a timetable for the amount of exercise required to bring them on a par with elite athletes, he was laughed out of the office. They said that footballers would never agree to that much training, when there's golf to be played every afternoon!

have him call keane, he'll sign for that. if they try to go play golf...well, i'm sure they've learned to obey by now, that won't be a concern. keane has a big garden in his backyard, plenty of room for more bodies. keane will try anything, it seems, to keep sunderland up. for some reason i'm thinking about the story of the sheik who died after taking viagra for 40 hours. stupid brain.

If you want fat, check American football. Close your eyes and pick out a random name on the list. At least 1 of 3 are fat.

They have different body types and sized frames. I think Ronaldo could get really big if he wanted to but it'd affect his quickness. Rooney is very lean and solid. Tevez is a little less toned but I'm sure United's fitness regime will take care of that.

Pretty much all NFL players are stronger than any Premier League player(excluding kickers/punters)

Strangely enough certain people are actually healthier with a slightly higher level of bodyfat. An chap I know a few years back did a new training regime for Colin Montgomerie (golf) - he was in a bit of rut and thought he needed to get leaner and meaner. So my mate did the business and got him in good nick but the blokes game really suffered - his yardage went down and he started picking up colds and stuff and generally said he felt strangely weak even though he looked in really good shape. So they actually through the whole thing in the bin and he went back to his old diet and they just focused on other game aspects and he then really started to get the improvements going again. People that are really 'ripped' so to speak tend to be a lot more vulnerable to overtraining syndrome and viral problems - body fat levels having a relationship to the immune system.

Thats not to say being a super fat bastard is the way forward..... just in case any of you chaps were getting excited!!

Everybody has a "fighting weight" so to speak.....

Pretty much all NFL players have the cardio of a dead slug and are juiced up to the absolute 9s.....

Maybe I can help on this..

ahem...

study this picture closely...

now...

Guy on the right = fat
Guy on the left = not fat....

Look trust me.. if they were carrying any weight they couldnt cover the ground they do (7-10k per game)....

Tevez was lacking fitness at the start of the season which is why he looked onthe verge of a heart attack after an hour in a few games.

According to Wikipeida, Ronaldo is 7 cm taller than Rooney and a full 15 cm taller than Tevez!

They're smaller and have bigger necks and therefore they seem heavier (especiall if you're watching a 4:3 television broadcast on a widescreen television :D)

Neither is fat, in fact they're both pretty lean. They're just stocky.

They aren't even close to being fat. Having a physique like Ronaldo wouldn't improve either of them as players so why bother.

There are three body types:

Ectomorphs:
Ectomorphs are described as tall and thin with a delicate build and small bones. They are lightly muscled and typically have trouble gaining weight either in the form of fat or muscle. In terms of physical activity, they may perform well in endurance events. Sheldon also suggested that due to lack of muscle and body fat, ectopmorphs excelled at mental tasks. Obviously, Sheldon stereotyped ectomorphs as introverted, bookworm types.

Mesomorphs:
Mesomorphs are described as muscular or athletic individuals with hard, angled, mature appearing bodies. They gain muscle quite easily, but add little or no fat. From a psychological standpoint, mesomorphs are action oriented, rather than mentally focused. Mesomorphs are stereotyped as dumb jocks.

Endomorphs:
Endomorphs are described as larger individuals with a rounded and softer appearance. They are believed to have trouble losing weight, especially fat. While Sheldon described them as gaining muscle easily, others have regard them as non-athletic with little musculature. Sheldon believed that their focus was on the gastrointestinal tract with little interest in activity resulting in the stereotype of an easy going, lazy, overweight person.

Who the feck is "Sheldon" anyway?

Bloke who wrote a book or two on human morphology. I think he had a score of 0-7 for each element. So for example most people are 433/343/334 - a slight preponderance of one body shape. 007 is a right fat bastard.
