True, it's not the best situation either way. I guess we can just hope if he goes, replacements come in and do well early (missing pre-season that was a lot about fitness, we will have to hope they're at an adequate level) or if Pogba stays, he doesn't down tools. Tbh I don't see him downing tools, he may play at like 70%, but he's still pretty fecking good, even then.

Yep, I just get the feeling that all of this has been in the pipeline for weeks and is pretty likely now, I'm obviously not in the know but there's just this 'smell' about it all.

No he's not. Defensively he's been a liability for a start and both those two on their own offer more in that sense. On his day Pogba is better in attack but he's been disinterested or just plain inconsistent here. He'd be much better in La Liga.
If Juve really are willing to swap Dybala for Lukaku, we need to get the deal done quickly! I'm 100% certain that Dybala's arrival (+new contract +captaincy) will convince PP to stay. We're f*cked without him, Dybala or not. Not to mention that there's no chance to sign Dybala if Paul leaves.
Mindboggling how Mourinho has made some view it like this. No, not on Pogba's day is he better attacking than mid tier players like Savic and Bruno Fernandes, he's better than them attacking wise every day of the week. I fear some will only see that the grass isn't always greener on the other side once he does depart whenever that may be

It’s not that everyone is happy but he’s not a hipster choice he was a team of the year midfielder this season and rightly so. He’s got all the physical traits you’d want plus he’s confident technically and did great things in an average Lazio side this season.
He’s one of the few midfielders I’ve kept tabs on and I’d be happy if we got him. I do think replacing Pogba’s creativity won’t come from one player alone though.

When the window slams shut, and Bale is not a United player, then I will sleep easy....but until then, there will always be a niggling doubt in my mind....
If this is true then it suggests we've successfully sourced replacements. Fernandes was in tears at the end of the match the other day and there has been a lot of buzz about SMS. If we sign both of those with the Pogba money then I'd say that's a solid piece of business. And if we swap Lukaku for Dybala and finally get Maguire over the line then we could potentially be looking at:

That's a much stronger side than we had. Pogba is a terrific player but we were far too reliant on him performing in every game because of a lack of quality in other areas.

He will need replacing, but compare his performances to those of Fabregas in a poor Arsenal teams and Gerrard in very poor Liverpool teams.
Both those players stood out every week, getting eights and nines out of ten, with Gerrard even dragging that team to major trophies. Pogba looks average in an average team. Why? Because, whilst potentially he's a world class player, he certainly isn't and doeant perform at that level anywhere near consistently.
He might have the best media team in the world, but as hard as they try it doesn't cover up the harsh reality.

Lukaku's scoring rate minute/ goal is excellent, even last season. Take Pogba's penalties away for a start and see where that leaves us. Then, judge with your eyes, not with statistics.
They finished behind Everton and won the Champion's League despite finishing outside the Champion's League places. Liverpool challenged for the title about 2 times in Gerrard's entire career, even finishing outside the top 6 at times. He stood out every season.
Fabregas played in a soft arsed Arsenal team that never got near winning anything. The team that oversaw their decline from the very top of English football.

Until there is a huge step up from the current midfield that we have or there are some exceptional turnarounds in the transfer market; we desperately need him to stay. He can be inconspicuous but he has so often sent one pass over the top, around the corner, straight down the middle and even scored from distance and with his head and free kicks that makes a difference. Better runners and quality in front of him will make his contribution more obvious. Last season we placed our hopes on Alexis and Romelu, and we know how injury prone and static they were.

Dalot is quick and seems versatile enough to do RM or RB if needed. Lukaku scored a goal every 178 minutes in the league last season. That's just a tad better than one every two games, or 20 odd league goals if he plays every game.
I'm not a fan of his by any means, but it backs up my point of how statistics can be misleading.
If anyone says they watch every full game and Pogba gives a 7 or 8 out of ten in 70 percent of matches, then good luck to you. That's the minimum I expect from a player supposedly worth £150m, as well as the ability to drag the team through difficult situations and win us games. He seldom does any of these things.

That's not excellent scoring record. That's a decent record for a player who plays every game as a #9 for ManUtd.

So many on this forum think Pogba should be defending. Play him properly and he is devastatingly effective rather than being wasted asked to sit deep or constantly track back. There is also a reason why a team infinitely better than us with 4 recent CL titles want him so badly..
We sell Pogba and we are just confirming what a shite club we have become. Real Madrid’s rebuild after just 1 poor season is what we should be doing as the so called ‘biggest club in the world’. Instead we have spent weeks sniffing around Longstaff.

As I said before: Pogba is a great player, and could be on of the long term stars of the United resurrection but is he the player we need now? If he stays he needs to accept that it's his responsibility to lead the team mostly in the mental aspect. If he wants to be the leader he needs to act like the leader.

The problem with all of this for me is the timing. Our pre-season's almost done and we're losing someone who played a big part in the way we've been setting up. Even if we bring in a quality replacement, there's no telling whether the'll be able to hit the ground running. Real dragged their feet on this so we should make them wait till next season instead of disrupting our own.
