There's been quite a bit of speculation about what's going on (armed robbery, perpetrators holding out for a ransom, etc.). What we know at this time is that the people on the roof are protecting themselves and are barricaded to ensure that they aren't harmed. Police are in the area and are trying to resolve the situation. Updates will come in due time (hopefully).

Hope those people won't have to stay on the roof for too long. Looks like they're just wearing hoodies and it's not very warm today (currently 5 degrees in MTL, feeling like 2 degrees).

It seems like everyone has been escorted off the roof and out of the building. There are still reports of injuries or any actual threat to anyone; they're thinking it may have been a hoax.

I hope this gets resolved too. Bad year for Ubisoft for its personnel for multiple reasons. Don't think a leap of faith works well in the real world.
Media are now reporting with certainty that it was a hoax. I haven't seen any further background on that yet (if there will ever be any).

Montreal police themselves have confirmed this as well. Whoever did this needs to be found and given their due consequences. I feel for the people who were scared for their lives and barricaded themselves at the roof.

Montreal has quite a large part that looks like that if I remember it right - that part of town is quite hopping during the summer (aka the 1 day they have of it in Canada).
