Well that was certainly an exciting and eventful game! A really good watch. We look so good going forward. Fernandes continues to impress. A stunning free kick on top of his assist. What a start to his United career and what an impact.

Greenwood feels like he's kicked in a few levels wince the restart his goals and general play have bee a so good and he has to be one of the first names in the team sheet right now. He is just pure class. Glad to see Martial stay among the goals, and for Rashford to get back among them. However I must say I was very nervous he would miss that penalty, guess I just had too many flashbacks to the start of the season.

The defence took shine off somewhat, but it so much. The first goal was awful by all though. We were all over the place and looked like they were playing like they were expecting a whistle to go off. Am I the only one who thinks the pen against Bailly was harsh though? I haven't read much reaction to it yet.

Lindelof is like a deer in headlights, can't probe or pass at all.

I think as an opposition you'd love to have Lindelof on the ball he poses no threat whatsoever, and even from set-pieces you wouldn't fear him from corners at all.

Definitely needs someone to partner Maguire, but arguably you want someone even better than Maguire to challenge him and push him on, because Maguire at times gets beaten.

My major concerns with the team currently are DDG, Lindelof and at times Maguire.
Thought Lindelof was the best of the two and actually looked decent and was passing pretty well.

Magnificient. Maguire makes 2 mistakes that directly lead to goals, but it is Lindelof who gets slaughtered in the forum.
Even though he made those two mistakes, neither would have been a goal if we had anywhere near proper goalkeeping.

Yep. To be fair, if the attackers refused to shoot, every mistake of Maguire would not result at goal.

I'd be more bothered about the errors if we dropped points but as we didn't I just enjoy how good we were going forward and how many more we could have had.

It was a great performance with some great goals. We must be so difficult to play against. Push up and we'll get you with pace, drop deep and we'll pick you off. This is so far removed from just a few months ago. I didn't think from where we were that the transformation was possible.

Greenwood is special.

100% Agree.
Lindeloff is scared of any header (PL center back should be great in the air). Bailly is like headless chicken running "mistake in waiting" and shouldn't be in the team. Smalling is good in air and definitely more reliable than these two clowns.
Out of the three, Lindelof, Jones and Bailly, he is the best.

Maguire had an off day.... OK so what? We won. It's not like Rio, Vidic, Evra, Stam, etc never had off days.... Same goes for Schmeical and VDS too...

The defense is still poor. Lindelof is slow on the ball and Shaw always makes the wrong decision. Maguire is also not as good as he thinks he is. Attacks only start well if Matic or Pogba receive the ball from De Gea or receive it very early.

Really liked the look of Fred when he came on - brought on some lacking energy towards the end.

I wouldn't be too bothered just now about the defence. I think they had a mare today, however, they've been reasonably solid as a unit for the most part.

I think on the whole, we started this game with a worrying amount of complacency throughout the team. Unfortunately complacency at the back is more costly than up front. We nearly passed ourselves into trouble with lackadaisical passing at the back at least twice before we conceded.

Thankfully, the goal conceded seemed to wake us up, and hopefully, it would serve as a reminder going forward not to underestimate the opposition.

One thing I was mildly interested in knowing was how this team would react to a shock goal conceded, considering we've mostly scored first recently (bar Spurs); and I was duely impressed.

Mason is something else, and Bruno ... remarkable how such a player was left for 2 seasons in Sporting without much attention - let's hope he doesn't have the old Latin player "dream" of playing for Real somewhere in the back of his mind!

The match thread performance on here though ...
Folks, being caught up in the moment is no reason for grown ups to ping from one emotional extreme of horrible abuse towards our own players and doomsaying to the other extreme in seconds - the fickleness is legendary. Some people really need to get a grip of themselves, as you've got to be concerned about your mental health if you can't keep it together. I shudder to think what our form would be if these lot were match going fans.

Tbf De Gea is having too many off days recently. He needs to be replaced soon. Past his peak.

One thing I've noticed is how much AWB has improved offensively. Whatever Ole is doing, its working.

I have absolutely no idea what the defenders and DDG were playing at today.

Maybe they've been so bored at how easy it's been the past few games that they wanted a game all to themselves.

Good job we're great going forward at the minute cause a better team than Bournemouth would've beaten us.

But then we ARE that good going forward. All three of the front line scoring is fantastic news, Rashford needed confidence, Martial needs to keep banging them in because otherwise it looks like he's doing nothing all game (off the ball he's working hard though) and there's not much to be said about Greenwood cause he's brilliant.

Fernandes finally spanking a free kick in and Pogba desperate to get in on the act too. Everyone looks hungry and happy going forwards. Even Dan James looked more composed today in his little cameo.

Mad game but hey, we scored 5 so feck it. Had a weird feeling about today's game a bit like when FIFA/PES conspires to cheat to beat you and it felt like that when they opened the scoring but we managed it in the end. Let's keep on winning. Every game from now until the Europa League final should be a win because we've got the quality and confidence to do it.

End the season how we need to start the next.

Exactly this. His 1st season with a massive fee over his head and he starts off as club captain. I for one am willing to give him a break. We can see the maturity in the squad now, that comes down to him, Rashford growing up, Bruno coming here to play and Pogba finally doing his world cup for United. We are looking good at last and if Sancho is here there is no reason we can't score enough goals to win major silverware next season. If we could add a hungry athletic CB and De Gea sorts himself out we may have a squad with very little flaws.

Nice bit of loyalty there... He's not going anywhere.
Nothing to do with loyalty is it.
He is quite right about DDG. If we are to make a challenge, he needs to improve. His recent form has been average at best.

I'd take a league by the moaner tbf.
To be honest, I wouldn't. Not that I don't want us to win the league at all cost. But winning the league without enjoying the matches would just feel a bit meh. But that's my own feelings :)

Am I just being bias or was Bournemouth’s penalty pathetic?

Looked to me like it hit the shoulder AND was outside the area.

I’d be seething if we’d dropped points due to that

Shoulder counts nowadays. And it was inside. Marginally inside the box, but it still was in the box.

It was stupid and the rules are stupid, but it was a pen. Same as we got the pen against PSG last year. Stupid, but still the correct decision.

His arm not his hand, and hit or not a defender should never raise his arm to a ball when he's near his own penalty area. And worse, Bailly was even in no immediate danger like trying to block a cross or something. Don't know what's wrong with you tbh. It's clearly a very basic and stupid af mistake.
Very impressive. Not.

Expecting improvement is one thing (and it's a given), the guy you're agreeing with wants him replaced and thinks he's past it...

Loyalty? Am I the only one who remembers the fax machine?
And yeah lets keep players on just because they have been here for a long time. We should recall Smalling while we are it. He's been loyal too.

What is interesting, is that we tend to score more goals when Lingard doesn’t make the bench.

No you keep players because of what they have done at the club (and because you want to give players time to regain their form). It amazes me how quickly people want to forget. But as soon as a player entertains the thought of moving on people wanna cry about loyalty... anyway said my peice let's draw a line under it.

----

Watching Rashys post game interview he is so mature and clued up. Proper role model. Proud of him tbh... Good head on his shoulders and he'll go far.

He is past it. Its clear as day. We have to replace him eventually. We can either be proactive and replace him soon or let him carry on, selling De Gea 3 years down the line, dropping god knows how many points in the process.

Shaw always gets a raw deal, been probably the most consistent player in the team since the restart, can't remember him giving the ball away at all today. Maguire is a good player, needs the right type of player alongside him, but poor today. Hope that's a wake up call for the team from a defensive point of view, we need to work as hard as the other team, win the battles, then we can use our skilful players to win games.

Hope the club make the right decision in the summer. De Gea seems to have lost a little confidence, but we'll see how he performs in the last few games of the season.

If we're to challenge for the title the defense isn't gona cut it. But right now I'm just happy we look a genuine threat going forward and exciting to watch. I'll take that no sweat after the shite we've seen post fergie

Couldn't have put it better myself. Maguire is diabolical in one on ones and that's no exaggeration. If a forward runs at him and checks his run, there's about a 50% chance Maguire slips. Goes down like he's been shot. Really really poor.

For the first time since Fergie, I wasn't too bothered when we conceded (wasn't exactly happy about it either). Have absolute confidence in our attackers right now to get us back in it. Such a great feeling.

We can always spend another 80m pound in the current most overhyped English CB. Who would be that nowadays?

I cant remember the laat time we had an amazing attack AND an amazing defense Im guessing when we had Vidic Rio at the back and Ronaldo Rooney up top ? Bit we always seem to have amazing attack or defense not both at once but I think were only a 2 or 3 signings away from that plus we need to add squad depth but I will enjoy what I see attacking wise at the moment just awesome!
