The commentators on Norwegian TV noted something that's not easy to spot when you're watching on TV: Brentford's press consistently man-marked every United defender and midfielder except Maguire, who they left in peace. This means their game plan was to force United to funnel their build-up play through him. Why was that? And how did that work out?

You could see why it was for the fourth goal (I think it was the fourth goal) where he was sucked forward and then was hopelessly out of position for the Brentford break. His lack of pace is a killer.

We’ve lost our last 7 away games on the bounce - zero points from a possible 21, and only won two league games (Norwich and Brentford) since March. That is relegation form, pure and simple.

Thinking anything else is burying your head in the sand.

That one's a different issue though. He just overcommits offensively after the team loses the ball inside the Brentford box, instead of falling back to take out Mbeumo (I think it was). A bad decision. Especially given his lack of pace.
