Bizarrely, if you switched the performances/games around (tonight's game being the first leg in Vigo, the first game being tonight's) then we'd probably be very happy, wondering a little how we hadn't managed to score more.

Tonight was a shocker but the final is a one off and we've got to make sure Ajax's young team aren't allowed to grow into the game. Beat them in the first 20/30 minutes and we should be ok. Bailly will be a huge miss.

Jose got it all wrong today. There were really no reason at all to give Celta such a time and possession on the ball when one goal will make the game nervous. We should have only done that after scoring the second goal only not when the game was 1-0 only. Rubbish tactics today from him tbh.

We should never do this in the final especially our defense without Bailly will be crap and Smalling/Blind won't withstand pressure.

I think the problem is that our defense hasn't been so solid as much as our dominant possession has taken the majority of the pressure off of it, giving the statistical illusion of quality. Therefore, when Jose decides to park the bus for an entire half it becomes very nerve racking, especially with no Bailly or Rojo to anchor the middle. Normally I like Blind, but tonight he looked very shaky and always seemed to be in the middle of a crisis. I am happy we made it, but it very easily could have gone the other way.

one game probably...can you name any other in the second half of the season. It has always been like this injuries or not.
We should have had the match dead and buried long before. Yet we had to rely on a city reject missing an open goal to get through.

I can understand the Celta Vigo's players heated frustrations leading to that drama fight.

Apart from the 5minutes after the goal I don't recall any prolonged period where we were in control? They dominated at the start & ended the first half better. Second half was mostly them.
Sat back for the vast majority of the game.
Lost enough points this season due to sitting back and it almost fecking cost us again.
