De Gea - A couple of excellent saves
Darmian - Good God, get Valencia and Dalot fit.
Lindelof - Improving all the time.
Bailly - Superb for 80 minutes.
Maguire - Constantly caught out of position.
Shaw - Did well and got a goal, needs to build on this v67
Pereira - hasn't got the discipline off the ball yet but great on it, a real talent.
Captain Pogs - Came in with no pre-season and looked the best player on the pitch, more please.
Fred - Looked a bit off the pace at the start but grew into it very well, looks like a tough git too, very impressed.
Mata - Still not a RW and we were overrun down that side in the first half but I thought he was good in the second and his pass for Shaw was excellent.
Sanchez - A few excellent moments and worked very hard, way too sloppy overall though.
Rashford - Hasn't done himself any favours.

Overall - Good 3 points and positive game, hopefully we will get better as players get fitter. I liked the look of that CB pairing, they complimented each other well.

Leicester - Look a decent side, they'll need someone to step up with Mahrez's numbers though and that may prove difficult. Maddison had a decent first game, one to watch out for.

Played like a side half fit and beat a side that were fully fit.

We'll get fitter and better so this is a good platform.

Sanchez was off it big time, everyone else did ok to good. Happy for Shaw to get his first goal.

Would much prefer to see Martial over Sanchez next time though, think Sanchez needs to be shown that unless he steps up, his place isn't guaranteed.

That midfield of Periera, Fred and Pogba looks to have a lot of potential. Sanchez and Mata need to do better. Bailey and Lindelof did well, Shaw was great and Darmian was decent. DDG was beast ofcourse.

The first half was awful for the most part. The second was a bit better, but it's hard to be optimistic for the season after a performance like that.

I'm really happy for Shaw though. Good game overall and a goal. I hope he can build on that.

Bailly was brilliant tonight, a rock at the heart of our defence. Lindelof supported him well, he seems to have brought his good world cup form home with him. Shaw looks pacy and well up for the challenge ahead. He looked to get forward at every opportunity and was rewarded with a goal for his efforts.

Pogba played with buckets of energy and he looked like a proper leader. Periera looks really promising, just as he did in pre-season. Fred looked nervous at times but done enough to show he has something about him.

Sanchez was poor, really poor. Mata was poor to average until the last 10 minutes when he began playing more centrally. Why Jose insists on sticking him out wide I'll never understand. Rashford made some decent runs that went unnoticed but didn't offer anything in the way of a goal threat.

We needed a win tonight to take the edge of a crappy pre-season. Job done in that respect.

Happy with the 3 points, but disappointed with the performance. We still look a bit clueless in the last third of the pitch. Sitting too deep and playing on counters are such a small team mentality, but that’s probably not gonna change with Mourinho.

One thing Mourinho needs to do is adjust the midfield and get them to support the front 3. No one in the front 3 played good and they will get a lot of criticism, but they were isolated way too much because no one in the midfield pushed up. If we are going to play with Pogba, Fred and Pereira in midfield then Mourinho needs to find a way to get them to support the attack. Lots of times Pogba and Fred would stay back instead of making a run forward.

The good thing is both Fred and Pereira looks to pass the ball and put some tempo in the game. Hopefully with time someone will step up and fill that playmaker role in the kast third, that i felt we lacked against Leicester.

Also De Gea is a god and deserved a clean sheet! Yet again saved our asses.

Good 3 points but that sitting back and inviting pressure instead of pressing when you're one up will never be the right approach imo.
Yep, it just doesn't feel right when you're not in total control of a game against modest opposition at OT. It's not like they didn't have chances.

Not a very good performance. Did just enough to get the 3 points.

Pogba did well. Happy for Shaw to get his first goal.

Poor performance from some (Sanchez - what will the next excuse be? - Darmian, Rashford)

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
Nice to have PL football back, despite another needlessly nervy as feck finish to a game.

Pogba and Pereira were class. Fred shows he has all the tools, just needs to settle. The makings of a good midfield with Matic having a big role to play too.

Made up for Shaw. Really hope he can kick on. Bailly and Lindelof were pretty solid too. Darmian started like a trainwreck but pulled it back.

Concerned about the front three that started. Mata was merely average - nice pick out of Shaw for his goal but that’s it. Rashford didn’t offer anything really and Sanchez... feck me, did my head in.

Lukaku coming back will help. And Martial needs to be brought back into the fold. Think we look light across the forward line though.

Interesting season ahead.

So happy we won. It wasn't the best watch but we should improve. I just think we struggled in terms of possession.

3 points who gives a feck. We can sleep happy tonight.

Lucky win, well all points count. But United attack was dogshite. Sanchez is just behind Depay for the contender for the worst no.7 in a United shirt. Our right side is horrible both going forward and defensively, lack of chemistry between the players, this team is just inches away from shambles.

I think Sanchez should be shifted to the right side so that Martial and Rashford can develop, the man is past it, he should rot away at the right until we can find a replacement (also he will be miles better than Mata there). Fred looked shaky at times but that was to be expected, Bailly if fit can be the best CB in the world, Perreira looked really good and lastly Shaw first goal hope this is the season he proves his worth.

Mata had a good 2nd half I thought. Completely agree about midfield. Maybe it will be better with Lukaku and Martial in attack. T

Solid performance if nothing else, Pogba, Pereira, Shaw and Bailly were very good, like the look of Fred. Can only get better, but a wins a win

Expectations have sure slipped. That was absolute dross. They hardly managed one fluid move in 90 minutes. Can’t believe people think it’s ok as we won three points against Leicester.

Take that, we were quite poor but it’s the first game of the season and we’re missing a fair few key players, not to mention all the media and opposition fans baying for blood. Tonight was just about getting the win.

We’re now another week closer to getting the likes of Valencia, Matic, Lingard, Lukaku up to speed.

After all the bad luck in past, time for some good luck. Kasper can feck off.

Anyways, it's a weird goal we conceded. Feel like time stopped for us.

De Gea - 6 - Made a couple of good saves, nearly put us in trouble with a poor clearance, and Vardy reacted faster for the Leciester goal
Darmian - 5 - As usual, offered very little going forward. Offered very little in general, and wasn't anything special defensively either
Bailly - 7 - Made some excellent challenges that really needed to be made, but did still have a couple of headless chicken moments
Lindelof - 6 - Caught out on a couple of occasions and needed Bailly to get him out of trouble, better start than last year though
Shaw - 7 - Made some great runs early on, looked a lot better than we have been used to recently, and topped it off with a goal
Fred - 7 - Looks a tenacious player not afraid to tackle, he'll grow into the game and the team. Looks promising, should develop well
Andreas - 6 - Some good passing, looked quite calm and composed, still adapting to his new position but Carrick will help greatly
Pogba - 8 - Absolutely bossed the midfield, looked fantastic. Control and passing was incredible. Focused more on transitions than attacking
Mata - 6 - Once again, came inside far too much for my liking. Right hand side was bossed by Gray and Chilwell. Still not a winger
Rashford - 6 - Showed good turns of pace and made good runs but did little outside of that. Still needs to work on his build up play
Alexis - 5 - Just did not happen for him at all today. Got the ball in promising areas and gave it away. Last season all over again for him

Overall, this was a game straight out of last season, and it was something we should get used to. This is how Jose plays, this is his "philosophy". The team with the ball has fear and will make mistakes, the team without the ball will encourage mistakes in the opposition and play without fear. This underpins the way he wants to play football and how he sets his team up. It is also why we throw away many 1-0 leads, as we sit off and allow the opposition to have the ball and attack.

As we saw today, it doesn't matter how early we score, we'll still surrender the ball once we do score. Leicester controlled the game, and luckily for us did not have enough quality to punish us. Jose seems to forget that you need to have the ball in order to be able to score. Another issue is that we're very poor in possession once we do have the ball, because we're not used to having it for large peroids of the game and everything feels rushed. In those moments, we would be utterly ineffectual without Pogba in the team.

For a first game of the season, this was a very satisfying performance and nowhere near the dross some comments suggests. Good signs from the midfield trio in particular, and Shaw of course. Good start.

Luke Shaw is the first LB we've had consistently bomb forward since Luke Shaw. Welcome back Luke Shaw.

Very sloppy for the most part

Pogba - beast mode please continue

Sanchez - some annoying passing but also so great switch play and runs, I do feel he gets bad service, the passes to him are too late

Shaw - great to see him get 90mins and a goal but he made some awkward mistake I’m sure he’ll get a bashing for

Fred - looked composed, can def see him being fred the red (card)

Pereira - excellent performance, so glad he’s going to game time here with us

Darmian - horrendous, bad passing, out of position.

Summary - great to get win with obvious room for improvement, we are so fecking weak down the right it’s criminal

France - can't win anything with Swedish turnips
Very sloppy first half, how many times did we give the ball away.
Second half much improved.
Main thing is the victory.

Alexis very poor first half, better second
Rashford anonymous for most of the time he was on the pitch and seemed so weak.

Bailly very good apart from the last few minutes when he lost Vardy twice, maybe tiredness and loss of concentration.
Pogba MoM considering he's had no pre-season.

Fred looks promising but gave quite a few balls away first half, will need time to adapt.
Pleased for Shaw getting his first goal, had a good match overall, hope he can now live up to his potential.

Nine days before next match gives time for those who've just come back to get more fitness.

Do we have the stat - Sanchez % successful passes? Must be embarrassing.
Also, we are simply going into the season without a right winger, which coupled with a poor right back, makes us very predictable on that side.

Shame to lose concentration at the end and let Vardy in, I think the performance deserved a 2-0. We held a good shape in the main, harried the ball in our half and when we countered we looked dangerous. Almost a textbook Mou 2-0. Lots to build on though. Think Dalot and Jesse will give our right side more dimension.

Was a better performance than I think any of us were expecting given all the negativity with transfers and the summer in general.

We played the Mourinho way, not the United way and we're just going to have to accept it. If it means we win then we win.

Leicester are a good side and have the players to cause us trouble which they did but we just about did enough. Better second half when we looked capable on the break.

Sanchez and Rashford were dogshit.

Happy for Shaw, in fact made up for him, hopefully it'll be the boost to kick him on. Pereira and Fred looked like they're decent on the ball and perhaps provide some dynamism that we've lacked in midfield. Pogba was great considering he's only just come back, giving him the captaincy might be the making of him in a United shirt, especially after winning the World Cup.

Bailly is an absolute beast.

Couldn't fully watch it as I'm out at a mates, but we looked quite solid if unspectacular.

Wait for Sanchez, Pogba and Lukaku to get into the groove and we could be a typical Mourinho side in grinding out results whilst not looking great.

Hopefully a bit of the transfer doom and gloom can be lifted now.

Pogba was absolutely brilliant. Fred being his first game was decent, just a little hot tempered. Sanchez was a disgrace and Lukaku missing that sitter was shocking. Overall I believe we are in for a very tough season and top 4 could be a big task considering the way we played. We have to hope the other top 6 drop as many points as possible. Also the fact that we have Martial rotting on the bench while Alexis is playing like Emile Heskey is truly astonishing.
