Always a great feeling to get a late winner! With that said, I thought we were too open today and McTominay, in particular, had a very poor game. Injuries definitely affected us today.

Pogba and DDG had a stinker. Pogba needs a rest. Lukaku should have claimed the ball for his hattrick.

Bad performance from Pogba and de Gea. Fred with a match winning assist, Lukaku brace, screamer from Pereira.

What a match. I somehow never doubted we'd get at least one more when it was 2-2. Proper United.

Phew.

I have a lot more faith in us coming back into a game we're losing now that Solskjaer is in charge. It's nice that we don't revert to hoof ball to Fellaini the second we go a goal down.

Lukaku immense today - finally seeing the result of getting a run of games. If only he had taken the penalty to round out a well-deserved hattrick.

Very pleased with Pereira and Dalot too! Terrific experience for them in a game situation like today's.

Sloppy performance, Ole is learning a lot about the spirit of this team with the win, but also about the lack of quality in depth with how much we struggled against a bang average side. Vital 3 points but we badly need Martial, Lingard and Herrera back.

Pens should be taken by the first choice.. unless the game is clearly over.

Totally fine with pogba taking it.. unlucky for Rom who had a good game.

Can Dalot please be first choice over Young at RB now, rather than waiting for the inevitable swap next season for no obvious reason.

Pogba has missed too many penalties. When he is concetrated he shoots them well, but quite often he is more interested in doing that stupid ritual.

He probably needs to be taken off penalty duties but unfortunately we don't have a good penalty taker. Maybe Herrera or Martial (though the later has missed one). No idea about Rashford, he is good at free kicks, maybe he would be good at pens, but we really shouldn't continue leaving them to Pogba.

Where the grass is greener.
Pogba was played too deep in the second half, so he was hardly in the game. Not sure if he's in the best of form anyway, but that didn't help.

Pogba is greedy and doesn't have the potential to be captain.
He should have let Lukaku take teh penalty for his hattrick.
It also is a good chance for others to prctice the penalty kick
so that they have the confidence in future when needed.

How can you complain after a win against a tricky opponent that has only been beaten once in years.

And also with so many injuries and several tired players. A win is a win.

Wish Lukaku had taken the pen

Me too, and not just cause he was on a hattrick. As much as i adore Pogba i never fully trust him from the spot and if i recall correctly Lukaku had a decent record from penalties at Everton?

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
Top 4, and only 3 off 3rd!

Would have prefered a 5:0 but whatever!

He's now even turning Lukaku into a striker again!

Disappointed with Pogba (the way he handled his penalty miss and got carded) but he was more engine room than flair today … doubt he'll get the plaudits!

On the face of it a good match. Five goals and a late winner. Not exactly a snore fest.

Thought we did well in spite of some clear quality lacking in our general play (and not just down to injuries). Soton scored two good goals and looked decent on the attack.

Think Dave, Young, Pogba, Rashford and Sanchez all had pretty bad days (from poor to downright shite).

Brilliant goal by young Andreas and his confidence will be through the roof now. Big performance by Lukaku in the end - two brilliant goals including the late winner. He gets enough stick (and even in this game he had his rough moments) but he was our match winner today.

Some might say Ole had a bit of luck today (some great quality goals) to get out a jam but good managers tend to look a bit lucky at times.

Onwards!

Lukaku finished well. It's obvious he's a finisher but can't control well.

Pogba should be taken off pens tbf.

Shaw was good. Andreas (beside his goal) was terrible, so many misplaced passes and losses of possession.

Dalot coming on changed the game, Sanchez is a curse.

Okay Howson.

You do know other teams are allowed to play well right?
Eh? Our play was bad, are you saying otherwise? Our passing and the overall play was awful, took 2 individual goals a great finish by Lukaku to win us the game.

Good second half after a dull 1st. Lukaku touch is really terrible but 2 superb finishes and i have to give him mom for those.. Dalot looked awesome when he came on, made a difference.
Good battling spirit, southampton played pretty well and 2 great strikes kept them in with a shout right to the end.
Nice to see pierra score should give the lad a boost.

Not a convincing performance and it showed that we're missing a lot of players, but so strong to come back from behind and then finding that late goal in the end.

Southampton lose their cup final.

Really really difficult game, we were nowhere near our best although we still created loads of chances.

Brilliant finishes for all 3 goals, a huge win.

The way we won today say alot, it's always remind me of what we were doing under Fergie and how no matter how shite we are sometimes but we still can to get the 3 points.

Andreas should replace Pogba, not play alongside him unless Pogba is the deeper of the 2. Fred needs to replace him if he is going to play deeper.

Mctominay unfortunately is just not good enough for this club, he doesn't pass early or accurately enough to warrant playing here.

Young/Sanchez should be put out to pasture, their time is up.

Lukaku was impressive, his hold up play was decent, but scoring 2 goals with the wrong foot and also scoring goals not created for you.

OGS is really SAF like, he is creating a crazy atmosphere and situation where we have to do things the hard way.

Take back what I said, big man up top Rom utterly bossed it. If he has time he struggles but instinct finishing has been great. Credit where credit is due.

Pereira I am still not sold on but what a first goal for the lad. Overall a typical United game "ENTERTAINMENT".

Thought harsh not to give Rom his hat trick chance for the pen but oh well. Top 4 baby!
