Everyone saying credit to Southampton - what credit?
They were fouling our players all day long with nasty cynical late tackles and the ref was letting them get away with it. Romeu had no business being on the pitch - VAR of course does nothing because they're completely fecking inept. They were a man up when they scored as well. Hassenhutl looks like he wants to go home and wank to a picture of Klopp, and get his teeth done by the same dentist. They left spaces behind the full backs and couldn't capitalize on our own ineptness in possession.
We fecked up - we weren't clinical today - Martial and Rashford both missed some great chances. Bruno was off the pace, Pogba gave the foul away, Ole didn't account for injuries while making subs and Lindelof got outmuscled by a player a foot shorter than him in the last minute. We did what we do everytime we're under pressure - we collapse.
This game was a test of the team's mentality - to see if we can rise up to the challenge and take that third spot. And every single time the players and the manager have failed to rise to the occasion.
18 games unbeaten and coming back to score 2 is all well and good, but it doesn't mean much if you don't keep your head when it counts the most. Teams have purple patches, players have games in good form - but top teams win even when things aren't going their way, under pressure. We're not that team, yet.
While obviously top four is still in our hands, each of the remaining games is way more tougher now, and we don't do well under such pressure in the league of late. We have to wait and see if we have any fit left backs left for the rest of those games as well. Not to mention the huge psychological boost it'll give Chelsea and Leicester.
