Wow! What a game! It was interesting in the first half as Spurs thought we were mentally still the same team as we were under Jose but it was not the same. We had decent possession and countered pretty well. We went at them any chance we got and then Pogba sent forward that delicious pass for Rashford to score that beauty on instinct. I couldn't believe my eyes as i saw a resemblance of Ole in the boy.

Second half was a totally different story, Poch drove Spurs to react so hard. They gave us the respect that they gave Barcelona and Madrid last year and pushed really hard. What i like a lot about how Poch likes his players to play is, he get them to play so tidy under high pressure. Even when we kept pressing so hard for the ball, we hardly got it. If not for De Gea, i think they would've put 4-5 past us. Amazing De Gea came out blocking everything that came his way. Pure bliss watching him between the sticks. The man is pure genius.

All in all, Ole 6 wins out of 6. I wish he can keep this form up until PSG in Feb. We can create a huge atmosphere at Old Trafford and give the boys a boost to go get it done. I'm hoping we can go a long way in the CL. Even though i cannot trust the defense, i think De Gea is an asset and we can counter at full pace now. Attributes i think resembles a Fergie team.

Top 4 and CL semis along with the FA cup. Ole becomes permanent manager.

Don't get me wrong not saying we deserved to win it, personally think a point each was the fair result but will take any 1-0 wins away from home against top 6 I can get my hands on.

Can only remember the one from Ali that De Gea pulled off a good save, can't remember the others but was probably hiding behind the door frame at that point.

All about opinions mate and you're always going to slide towards your own side only natural, we all do it.

Be interesting to see what he does, you think you boys will go into the market?
That's totally fair, as you say we're fans of a team so naturally will be biased, even if we're trying not to be. You can't really get away from it so there's no point pretending either of us are objective!

And nah, highly doubt Levy will dip his hands in to his pockets, especially in January where he would have to overpay. Sucks, but we're used to it.

So now the buzz has died down there was one worrying part of Sundays victory:

The second half midfield battle. We literally could not hold onto the ball for the last 30 minutes yet the majority of Caf agreed Pogba was very good, Herrera excellent and Matic good. Surely if you're 3 midfielders are putting in an admirable shift then you don't get over run over and over again?

First half was brilliant, we went toe-to-toe with a title runner and had the better chances, away from home. Last 30 minutes of the second half could've been 4-1 was it not for De Gea. Spurs midfield wasn't exactly made of Xavi, Iniesta & Busquets.
Especially up against a team that had, at most, one specialist central midfielder for most of that half.

I’m in a (tiny) minority here but I don’t think Pogba played well overall. Which partly explains why.

I think Pogba showed a few moments of brilliance and was one of your more dangerous players, but in terms of his actual job as a central midfielder he lost the ball quite often and was positionally suspect at times. Was too easy to play our way through your midfield.

That's one of the main debates surrounding Pogba though, right? Do you give him a totally free role and have other players doing the donkey work, or should he be expected to track back and be more disciplined, like the Pogba we saw at the World Cup.

Haha yeah true mate, looks like a two horse race now with them pair. Yeah can't see us doing much either, would love a CB as Phil Jones just worries me but Lindelof seems to be adjusting and is looking better and better. Think we will be waiting until the summer as really don't want us blowing 75m+ on a Maguire etc.

Alderweireld for 25m would be superb (I know you don't want to hear that) but always thought he is one of the best in the league, absolute peanuts for someone of his caliber.

"Our" Darren Fletcher has made an excellent tactical analysis of the game discussing why we dominated Spurs diamond vs diamond in the first half and why Pochettinos tactical switch to their normal shape in the second half; and OGS reaction to that might have weakened us:

Off--topic Fletcher is really turning into an excellent pundit/analyst.

It all connects though. None of our forwards seemed interested in recycling possession. Ole mentioned after that we were too direct in the second half, keeping in mind that we were in the lead. We could’ve scored a few ourselves mind, so I guess it’s about getting used to our new identity and becoming a little more cynical when we are in the lead away to top teams. We certainly had players who could have kept the ball.

For whatever it’s worth I don’t think Pogba was great other than the assist and a couple of other sequences. Lost the ball unnecessary too often imo. Both Herrera and Matic recycled possession better I thought.
Absolutely right about Pogba. He was poor in the second half and was little or no help defensively.

A lot has been said about how we have been much more attacking under Ole - and rightly so.

What struck me about the Tottenham win was it was the perfect Mourinho gameplan - defend, wait for the opposition to make a mistake, hit them with a rapid counter and then kill the game. Except under Jose we would have lost.

So Ole is showing he has more than one approach in his locker. Really, really willing him to succeed and get the job.

Spurs attack is better than ours, and their defence is miles ahead of us. Adding to that it was Spurs home game, thus it was expected for us to struggle there. The fact that we were on top to the ~60 min. is a testament of the new manager excellent work.

Not sure spurs attack is better than ours. We have youngsters who are still learning too a degree but rashford, martial and lingard when they click should be as good as anyone.. Anyway looks like Kane is crocked and out until march and Song is off to some asian cup for a while so its important we capitalise if they drop points whilst weakened..

Trippier’s crossing from RB is very very good. We need an outlet like that in our team.
I know it's a touch late but phone has been goosed, in Dalot, we have that. He just needs game time to acclimatise to the EPL.

Well I think we deserved to win.
The goalkeeper is just as much a part of the team as anyone else and he was brilliant.

The goal was similarly brilliant.
Yes we were stretched by Tottenham but we held out for a good win. It is not always the better team who wins.

What's Borthwick-Jackson up to. He has an impeccable cross on him
He's doing alright at Scunny at the mo. Getting plenty of game time and has even scored twice but I don't know if there are any plans to bring him back yet. Haven't read or heard anything to think his loan is being reeled in myself. However, I think Dalot would be a better option and games like Brighton this weekend could give us a better idea of his talent, if he gets on that is.
