Bring Roy Keane as an interim manager just to fight with our stupid spineless players, don't care if we finish 15th. The season is over already. Just bring him to burn and destroy everything, in the hope that we start fresh next season.

fecking shit again. We need goalscorers badly.

What would a goalscorer do? We don’t have an coherent attacking play, we don’t create chances. You buy a goalscorer when you’re a team that creates and then misses a lot of chances. A goalscorer converts those chances in to goals. Buying a goalscorer won’t help, prime Van Nistelrooy wouldn’t score in this team. There are fundamental issues in the football this team plays, it’s a complete mess.

Injured: Martinez, Maguire, Varane, Lindelof, Dalot, Casemiro, Mount, Amrabat, Martial, Diallo

Playing Fifa: Sancho

Just back from injury: Eriksen

Apart from Martial, Diallo and maybe Dalot and Sancho, every one of those players would have started today over thise who started, the others likely would have come on...

At full strength it would have been a tough game....this aint the hill to die on...

I actually thought we played okay until their 1st goal. Had most of the posession, comfortable with the ball thought only created 1-2 good chances. Then Mainoo and Shaw (I think those two) switched off and let Bowen score and after that West Ham gained confidence and energy while we turned to shite.

Okay-ish 70th minutes followed by really poor last 20+6. 8 losses in 18 league games which is just awful. Not looking forward to Villa on Tuesday..

Good to see the result of preparation and coaching after a week without a midweek game.

Despite all the problems with the Glazers, injuries etc, this defeat was predictable as soon as stubborn EtH returned to the failed midfield pairing of McTominay and Fernandes. So much better last week with Amrabat and Mainoo, at Liverpool.

Our front players are utter sh*te. In 60 years of watching United, I cannot remember us being so sterile an attacking force.

Merry Christmas :wenger:

What about the 7 other league games lost? Or being knocked out of two competitions before Christmas? Or making the conscious choice to play with one midfielder every week?

All along I have wanted ETH to do well but his team selections, in game management and outright stubborness is ultimately going to lead to his downfall.

But remember this week Sancho will get his 325k, rashford his 375k and Bruno his 300k.

First class all round.

Rubbish .. 70 mins of huffing and puffing.. Garnacho needs to score that chance we win.. most prob comfy.. West Ham were just doing nothing.. Mainoo got a bit tired imo and that's his age, it will come with him.. Willy at the back had nothing to do..

This side concede and they fold.. Away from home .. plus we cannot score when on top of teams and this was a issue last season and even more this season. A Striker should have been bought , and wasn't.. ETH has tough job on his hands .. January we need a Striker or its 10th at best .. Merry Xmas everyone..

This club likes to spoil it though.

Ultimately I would say that this is where you are at.

Looking at your team I think you have only two or three players of quality (I know one or two are injured). Shaw is very good and Fernandes can be on his day, but honestly the rest wouldn't be particularly coveted by a team like West Ham. Lacking talent, brains or heart.

Maybe your young kids are promising but you can't be relying on young kids without established quality next to them delivering week win week out. You will need to sell the dross and start again I think. Get rid of Rashford, Antony, etc. Buy players with heart and untainted. Would argue Ten Haag isn't helping either, either buying rubbish and also not setting up the team properly.

Surely van Gaal's 2nd season United was more painful to watch in terms of chances creation. Most boring United side in decades that was.

We have had those players available in past games, bar the recent signings and been hammered by teams. If we had a playing plan, then players would just slot into it. Other teams lose big players and cope. I was like you regarding the injuries, but there are bigger problems at this club.

Dominated the game for pretty much most of the game. West Ham hardly laid a glove on us until their goals, which was down to not doing the fundamentals right.

Unfortunately, because our attacking players are in a bad moment/not good enough, it means we fail to capitalise in moments when we're on top.

West Ham had two decent chances and scored two. We pretty much had the same and got into better positions for most of the game, yet we didn't score at all.

Can we just bring greenwood back please lord. He won’t solve our issues in the slightest but at least I’ll have one attacking player I actually want to watch and who excites. No chance we replace him with as good a player so it’s not even worth trying.

Sick to death of all the passing sideways and backwards and then giving the ball away when we finally go forward. We do not have the personnel to play this way so we should just go long ball and hope the opposition loses the ball in their area. Rubbish tactic I know but when we concede goals like today we need to change something. Probably the manager.

Definitely. Yes we had a lot of possession in the first half. Equally, we were not creating apart from the early attacks down the left where it looked like Shaw and Garnacho were gelling.
But it is abysmal to watch and must be boring as hell to play.

Other teams have CF, wide men, midfielders and even defenders that score goals. We have very very few. When the worst player in the team is also the highest goalscorer, then that speaks volumes. 18 goals in 18 games is a disgrace and needs improving now.

I am struggling to understand how someone who showed such coaching nous and potential at Ajax has suddenly become so incompetent! ETH genuinely looked world-class at Ajax.

He has a clown like Murtough working above him is why. ETH is a good coach

we would go down with Keaneo as manager. Agree be a fun watch seeing him rip into these spineless brats. But if they downed tools for Ole one of the nicest blokes around imagine how bad they would play for Keane. We literally need a new squad.

completely lost in the final third. lack of effort. Very very poor

Rashford came on as striker and spent most of his time dropping into midfield when we needed a goal. There is no positioning or attacking threat at all, not just Rashford but in general

The only good thing about this result is the number of Liverpool fans it'll drive even more mad knowing they didn't take advantage of this team.

What about the 7 other league games lost? Or being knocked out of two competitions before Christmas? Or making the conscious choice to play with one midfielder every week?

How many of those 7 league games we lost did we play our first choice defence and/or first choice midfield?

Champions league there is only 1 person to blame for that and his name is Onana.

Does City cope when Rodri is out? Lets not pretend that these amount of injuries are "normal" and that every team just shrugs them off.

we had about 3 good chances and yet we seem to think we dominated the game for 70 mins. last week liverpool had 30+ attempts against us, and we still thought we were in the game.

Lack of intensity after half time was incredible; especially considering West Ham were asleep most of first half

shocking
How many times have we seen a fair to decent first half followed by a bloody awful second half? Our players switch off at half time and never switch back on again. They commit howling, schoolboy errors one after another, forget to mark, track and even concentrate. What was Bruno doing when the West Ham player drifted past him onto goal? I cannot find it in me to blame young Kobbie Mainoo for his lapse of concentration, hes only 18 and has been sensational in every match hes played and he was the only one who came out for the second half looking as though he wasnt thinking about what he would have for Sunday lunch instead of immediatly focussing again on the match! And I cant really blame ETH for the lack of quality we show in the final third and the lack of goals, our players dont seem to be able to make the right decisions. I would have them all in for training every day, all day, until they finally learn that matches last a minimum of 90 minutes and that they have to play for every second; that before passing they look around to see whats on rather than kicking the ball in what amounts to blind hope. Some will disagree but football is a simple game, its not rocket science, but to play it well you have to learn the basics!

They only way out of this is to pay the players a lot more money. Then they will be more motivated and win more games.

We must be underpaying them if they are performing like this.

So maybe the bigger problems at this club are causing the injuries or the recovery from injuries.

I agree with that. We've had some silly injury runs for a good couple of years now, not as crazy as this season's but we have had injury runs. For me I think the medical staff definitely needs to be reviewed but also whoever is doing due diligence on some of the players we are buying who have had shaky injury records. A large part of this squad are physically weak, its not a surprise that one of our few physical players mctominay has probably been our most available midfielder.

In our last 4 games, we have scored 0 goals and conceded 6.

Ralf R said in best, when he said the team needs open heart surgery.

How many teams play every game with every first choice? Who made the decision that Evans and Lindelof were better options than Varane? Who signed Onana?

Mount was injured loads last season wasn't he and dropped when he wasn't, but we signed him. Sign Sancho even though he had issues at previous clubs regarding lateness and needs babysitting.

We would start 4 centre backs?

how many teams have gone into a match with 11 first team players injured? How many teams have played most of the season with their 4th/5th/6th choice CMs and CBs? How many teams have had all first team left backs injured and then sign an emergency left back and he gets injured? And how many have had all those things happen within the first half of the season?

Regarding Onana lets also not pretend that signing a GK who fits the profile of whats needed and reached a CL final is all of a sudden a bad decision to sign. Onana has himself to blame for his mistakes.

Thats put me in the ETH out camp at long last. Shame as he looked so promising at Ajax, but this is just so far beyond acceptable at this point.

Who do we get in as an interim?

At Ajax he played possession football. Very technical with a focus on scoring goals.
At MUFC, I don't think even he knows the style of football we play.
My own assessment is that we have a bunch of players who are called in 30 mins before the game and told to get out onto the pitch ASAP and hope for the best. There seems to be no strategy, just hoping for the best.

I think that the job is too big for ETH, but I still don't think he should be sacked. We need to get SJR in first and let him and his team decide on the fate of the current and new manager.
Regardless, there needs to be a massive clearout and that includes the players that ETH bought in the last 2 years.

Our two best players, Bruno and Rashford, are mediocre players who wouldn't start in any of the other top 4 teams. Ten Hag may not be the man, but we have such a mediocre squad. I'd honestly consider clearing every single player and start with a new fresh squad because they are all mediocre overrated shyte

That was Ralf R's assessment. He basically wanted to sell them all and start from scratch.
The board didn't like that, so they got rid of him.
