We're not exactly spoilt for choice. That said, he did well when he was put into the team last seaso. Solid, disciplined performance led to him cementing himself in the squad. Jose is obviously rewarding him for that amd rightly so.
Going forward, he may not end up being a United player, but does he deserve a pre season under his belt to try and impress Jose? Of course he does!

Well, yeah, but during the season I mean. The contrast in the games available between Jones and Smalling over the past few seasons is shocking.
I've seen more reports debunking that than the original rumour.
It's crazy how many so called 'good' players we have who play centrally but not able to create enough clear cut chances in every single game last couple of years. We desperately need proper wingers who can take some of the burden off them

I prefer that lineup since Fred and Pereira are playing in their right positions. Onus will really be on Shaw to provide width when partnered with the left winger McTominay.
If only we had Dalot, Chong and Martial in that lineup and I'd be excited. Let's hope Fred puts on a masterclass in midfield.
