Thanks for the input! I'm glad you like it, it's a very special song for me personally besides being our first "single" and all that. It's an honor the comparisons to Opeth (my fav band ever) and katatonia. Definitively we're influenced by the genre.I liked it. I really like the lead guitar, it wasn't technical but the note choice, feel and use of effects really complimented the sludge metal kind of rhythm parts. I got a lot of sludge vibes from it but mixed with Scandinavian prog rock/metal on the clean parts through the vocals and clean guitars, kind of like Opeth or Katatonia.
How did the guitarist achieve that really long feedback note to bridge the sections of the song from 1.59? I loved that.
The mixing didn't sound right to me though, the vocals were lost in the mix at times.
Actually i wrote the song and play the lead guitar in that section (you can hear my guitar in the right channel the whole song), aaaand i sing hehe. Yeah the mix still needs to be masterized and fix some volumes here and there before we upload to spotify.
The feedback is achieved by an E-bow which is a device that makes the string vibrate for ever and it makes it feedback a lot creating atmospheric noises. I use a lot in our songs!
