Last season he was out of form so didn't play for Switzerland that much in the Euros but of Switzerland's last eight international matches he's started six, came on as a sub in one and was suspended for the other, playing 90 minutes in most.

He's probably a bit like Bielsa, a bit of a mad bastard who refuses to compromise on his style and likes to mould teams in his own image. He may well struggle to manage a dressing room full of egos and players who don't fit his style. We'll see what happens.

First off, the bloke will need time to galvanise the existing squad and get rid of those he reckons are beyond performing as he would expect. There may be a ‘bounce’ effect, as per Ole, as the players will be bricking it to hang onto their big money they have stolen for two seasons, but it will be at least three months before a settled team and way of playing will be up and running.
Second, the Glazers will not sell the club whilst they are selling £millions worth of shirts and other stuff all over the world. Why would they? A nice little earner for them. They would still make money if we finished tenth. That’s not to say if an offer of £3bn plus came in they wouldn’t, but who has that kind of money to throw at a club that needs a new billion pound stadium and yet another team rebuild?

Phelan and McKenna have surely got to go. Maybe Carrick has a little something about him but we'll see what Ralf thinks.
Let's be honest here the only reason you want to keep Carrick over the other two is because he's ex-man utd. There's literally no reason why you'd want to keep Carrick over McKenna. Neither of us know what McKenna does over Carrick and vice versa.
But in my honest opinion, how different the teams have been set up over the last couple games would suggest that Carrick/McKenna were only doing what they were told to do by Ole. The teams are vastly different and tactics/subs have been different too. So I'd think they do in fact have some tactical nous.
Going by what we have read about him I think we can expect that! If a guy like Rangnick rates them then fair enough, bin them if not.
Have a feeling Marco Rose will be high on his list. Rose has been doing very well with BVB and trailing Bayern only by a point. His performances so far in the CL has been a little worrying though
This is different, though. He's possibly getting job upstairs and I doubt he'd want to rock the boat too much, which worries me. McCarrick seems to be the club's darlings and the club seems adamant about not letting these "lads" go for some reason.

On TalkSPORT today Danny Murphy was insinuating he was talking to Rangnick throughout the game via his headphones. Personally I think that’s a load of rubbish, but make of it what you will!
I am hoping he picks the XI against Arsenal and manages the team from his hotel room. I’m sure he will have a rough idea of how to set up the players after allegedly watching videos of our training sessions and past matches

Red Bull buying United would be quite a good outcome for us if it where to ever happen.

Feels like the rebuild we needed almost 10 years ago, has now finally begun. Fingers crossed.
Does anyone know who in United's hierarchy is handling the negotiations with RR?
I find it hard believe he would have got much sense out of the Owners, beyond being told they want him to 'be successful', and I would worry if negotiations have been done lower down the food chain, because in that case you have to wonder... does RR really know what he is getting into?

I'd honestly take saying goodbye to Old Trafford over a future with the Glazers right now if it was offered.
My take is that Carrick simply knew Rangnick was coming in and so he attempted to get the ball rolling by implementing something akin to a structured high press so that there'd at least be some familiarity with it going into the hectic December period.
Not sure about 4-3-3 and a high press vs. Chelsea's 3-4-3, though. Our three forwards did fair enough pressing their three CB's, but their wingbacks were almost always wide open because AWB and Telles couldn't necessarily push right up everytime when we're only playing with 2 CB's.

Tbf to Carrick he had one training day before Villareal and despite that we clearly had better work rate and at least a discernible tactical plan.
As for Chelsea; they are top of the league and just won the CL. I think being negative was fair enough given the circumstances. Expecting Michael Carrick to fix everything in the space of the week is just unfair.
Will he be a top coach? Honesty I couldn’t care less. I can’t name one of Liverpool or Man City’s or Chelsea’s assistant coaches. They simply aren’t important. It’s up to Rangnick to determine what training is required and get his coaches to carry out those drills.
They could call it the Red Devil arena and launch a new product called Red Devil. Then have a campaign of ‘fallen’ angels who’ve lost their Red Bull wings.

I think that that having him be the interim manager will do wonders for his later consulting role. He'll have more hands-on experience of the league, and presumably will be able to adjust his philosophy to the demands of both the English league and continental football. I'm pretty excited.
