Record breaking sackings in Premier League - 12 and still counting..

It’s a record breaking season with the highest number of managers sacked. It was already broken this afternoon with Rodgers getting sacked before Potter news.

Previous record was 10 which happened 4 times. One of them was last season.

Is the amount of money involved in the game causing this craziness? Would the sackings count be as high if it wasn’t for social media? It seems like the public pressure has more impact than ever nowadays.

Scott Parker
Thomas Tuchel
Bruno Lage
Steven Gerrard
Ralph Hassenhutl
Frank Lampard
Jesse March
Nathan Jones
Patrick Vieira
Antonio Conte
Brendan Rodgers
Graham Potter

I wouldn’t be surprised to see 2 or 3 more yet with how tight the relegation places are!

Bloody hell Ten Haag is now the 8th longest serving manager in the premier league :lol:

The way clubs are rushing into these decisions is a bit weird. Not saying that some of those weren't deserved, but 12 managers don't fail in one season, just overall poor leadership.

So many panic sackings, would Southampton be any worse if they’d just kept Hazenhuttl for example? He was sacked with them 18th, now they’re bottom. It’s all well and good sacking a manager to ‘change it up’ unless you actually get a better manager in to replace the one you got rid of.

I think we’re only going to get more of it as we get more takeovers from trigger happy owners.

The level of interest in the premier league has driven up the money in the league but sadly this has a knock on effect on the pressure and impatience to see immediate results.

It’s just going to get worse. We are going to be in a situation soon where 7 of the clubs are going to expect to ‘compete’ for the league/top 4 and 3 of them by default will always be doing ‘badly’.

Even bottom of the league teams. Someone has to be 20th. Should whoever is in 20th just always sack their manager?

Aye, they might be better off now if they hadn't replaced him with that utter tool Jones. To be honest. Some of those initial appointments were bizarre enough choices to begin

I know people like to laugh at the old reliables like Big Sam, Moyes, Hodgson etc.. that teams would turn to just to stay up. But sometimes that is what's required.

At least Parker, Conte and Rodgers asked to be sacked. Possibly Jones too. Which I don't think is common in a Premier League season.

Yep pretty much this. The amount of spending the “top 6” will do will mean they’ll all expect to compete for the big honours. But there will only ever be 1 winner meaning the rest are always at risk of the chop.

We could really split hairs. Forest weren't confirmed as promoted via the playoffs until after Ten Haag was appointed so he's arguably ahead of Cooper.

If we're going there he's behind Silva at Fulham though as they were promoted before his appointment.

It's a weird season. Almost every club is fighting for something, whether the title, European football, or survival. It's not like previous seasons where you have a good 5-7 clubs with nothing to play for at this juncture.

It's more surprising that it happened in a season where Watford aren't in the PL

To be fair, historically I think it is has been pretty normal for all the relegated teams in any given year to go through a couple of managers or sack the manager that got them relegated at the end of the season. Nothing new in that regard. Burnley being patient with Dyche and Norwich with that weird german is out of the norm
