Bruno ffs.
I’m talking potential strikers. Bruno can play as a false 9 though I am not convinced he is great at it. Cavani, Greenwood and potentially Ronaldo all gone. We need goalscorers. If we start the season with Martial up top then we may as well give up.

Stopped reading at Malacia being fourth left back. What are you on about?

Midfielder, left back, center back and you're saying we're not addressing problem areas in the squad.
Telles is toast if we bring in another left back.

Shaw might theoretically remain first choice, but he’s frequently unavailable through injury.

Williams? Really?

Malacia will get plenty of starts.

Need to move on from this Ronaldo saga
Man Utd will survive long after Ronaldo is gone

Anyone who wants out should go. Whoever they are, whatever commercial activity they generate.

Ronaldo stint 2 is a Woodward masterclass. It has no bearing on anything between 2003 and 2009 and if he wants out now, find a financially prudent solution.

He should leave. Best for all parties. There must be one striker that can do the job for us.

Problem is we can’t sell anybody. They sit on their contracts and laugh as they leave Carrington on the last possible day.
Selling Ronaldo won’t happen simply because the board can’t negotiate and we’ll just refuse to sell him under the pretence of not getting our price. The reality is we don’t know how to get our price. 500k a week for a 37 year old and expecting a fee is beyond stupid but it’ll happen

The same team no longer exists. Martial, Rashford, Elanga and Sancho would be our only attackers. Confident?
The attack was broken with Ronaldo in it. I am not saying I am confident we will be better without him but an attack that functions as a unit would be preferable. An unhappy Ronaldo at the tip of that attack does not help anyone. There is a scenario the team as a whole is better without him.

Seriously why do people not read posts correctly. I didn’t specify what choice he was going to be, purely that he is the fourth left back at the club.
Shaw +Telles+Williams = 3… Malacia added equals 4. Fairly simple.

“stopped reading” but proceeded to respond to the rest of my post. You can pick and choose what you think is more important but if you’re looking at pure numbers and specialist areas we are short at holding midfield and centre forward. We have 6 centre backs on our books, three left backs.
We have zero specialist holding midfielders. We’ve lost two centre forwards since January. It’s patently obvious those areas should take priority over a fourth left back or seventh centre back.

Whether Ronaldo can really play in the style Ten Hag is expected to want, I'm not sure. But let's not pretend this is a positive development. The one player in the dressing room setting standards, the one player who knows what Manchester United is supposed to be about, wants to leave and has concerns about our lack of transfers and ability to compete. And we're going to be left with the players who looked at Ronaldo and his standards and attitude went "yeah, I don't fancy that."

Hopefully Ten Hag can get the best out of the likes of Fernandes, Martial and Rashford - a) because their best is pretty good and b) he's going to have to.

Regardless of whether you think Ronaldo is the right player for us, I think it's a bad sign that he wants to leave like this.

Seven center backs, maybe 2 of some quality. 3 left backs, one of some quality. Maybe you admire quantity over quality so don't think those are positions we need to get quality in. Oh and we're getting a midfielder.

Ronaldo was the greatest ever player to play for United but if he wants to leave let him off. I don't blame him for wanting to leave, he came back believing that we were a serious club who were on the threshold of winning the league, alas this wasn't the case. What he found was a club in a total mess, void of any leaders on or off the pitch.

The funny thing is he would score plenty of goals under ten hag if he hung around.
We as supporters have to realise that we are not the club we fell in love with under Fergie and have been to be reinvented, hopefully, ten hags can do it. I have a feeling at last we have people who know what they are doing off the pitch.
Ronaldo's legacy at United is intact, it's a pity we were in a mess when he came back as he can still score plenty of goals in a proper team.

If you have no defensive midfielders and three left backs who you may not think are good enough. Prioritising or Signing another left back ahead of a defensive midfielder doesn’t solve the fact you still don’t have a defensive midfielder. If you sign or prioritise a dm you still have three left backs. Also Who is this defensive midfielders we’re getting then?

Man it’s
Sounds like he’s making the right moves to get these vulture owners out. Like him or loathe him, he loves the club and won’t let these owners get away with it. Brace move in my opinion and whatever the outcome I can only see it being good for us. If he stays it’s cause they’ve got their finger out of their ars3. If he leaves the fans will lose their 5hit and hopefully get the glazers out. Win win well played ronnny.

You're aware you can play without a specialist defensive midfielder?

Absolutely Go…

He won’t work in the system Ten hag is introducing….

There is no point having him here if he has an inkling of wanting to be somewhere else…I think his suggesting he want Champions league football is the perfect compromise for everybody…Goodbye..

It’s much smoother this way, rather than having Ten Hag confronting him or questions about him. Ten Hag needs to be to be top dog but also needs time to settle without the Ronaldo headache…..forget about the fanboy It’s not just about one player it’s a United team that will progress

This is actually unbelievable coming from a
United fan  . Of all the fanbases in the world that should know how ignoring that position can be a detriment to the balance of your team.
Name me one decent team in the world playing without a specialist defensive midfielder.

No amount of spin can disguise the fact that Ronaldo wanting to leave is anything other than a disaster. He was the only reason we did anything in the Champions League last season. And the idea, that was mooted in advance of Ten Hag's arrival, that Ronaldo doesnt fit is utter madness.

Even worse, Ronaldo's comments come as the Barca president is quoted as saying that De Jong is staying.

We cannot lose Ronaldo.

Is there some kind of weird circle jerk happening where Ronaldo goes to Bayern, Lewandowski goes to Barca and de Jong comes to us? Seems like Bayern would be the losers there so seems unlikely. But sounds like something a bunch of agents might try to engineer...?

anyone else think he is very likely to stay?
Most definetly.

Who the feck is going to pay 500.000 per week for a 37 year old man to sit on the bench?

And no, nobody needs him, including us.

Only way he goes if he decides to play the "homesick honesty crap card" and go back to Sporting for a final season before wrapping things and calling it quits.

Maybe the team will become more of a unit, more versatile, and more likely to finish higher in the league - you know, like before he came back and it had to be all about him again.

Before he came we had Cavani and Greenwood, would you want to rely on Rashford and Martial? I wouldn't he is the only dependable goalscorer man.

We have to get rid now because all he is going to do is strut around with a strop on when things are not going his way but:
What team is going to pay him a half a million pounds a week?
Possibly Newcastle but they have no European football
Won't be PSG as they already have Messi Neymar and Mbappe
Highly doubt it will be Citeh now they have Haaland
Possibly Chelsea but can we really imagine him playing for another English team
I can only see it being back to Magreed as it looks like they had room in their budget for Mbappe.

I have enjoyed seeing him back in a Utd shirt but the tantrums really do leave a sour taste in my mouth and he is akin to a spoilt child when he is only happy when he gets his own way.

Absolutely don’t blame him one bit. Why should he lower his own standards after that complete shitshow by the whole club last year? What exactly do we expect?
The shit show he was a major part of? Mm!

Funny how we scored more goals the previous season without him.

Having had a sleep on it, changed my mind, if he wants out get a deal done. If we get off to a poor start his attitude is going to be terrible, we’ll see lots of tantrums and it won’t be healthy for the players around him nor the new Boss.

Yup and with even more bad/uncertain feeling around it. Ronaldo is deservedly a circus but we should have been well moved on from it by last season. Unfortunately we will probably grab Zlatan again or something if Ron actually leaves. It’s a club without a clue. I’m really hoping that the long term vision improves asap because it’s been painful to witness for too long

Let’s just hope this story forces the clubs hand and just gets rid of him ASAP

Last thing we need is for this gobshite flapping about and sulking in the new managers opening games

Well, this should make it clear once and for all for all the naive fans (and there are many) who thought he was there out of love for the club and would want to participate in the (xth) rebuild of the club. This guy has only one thing in his mind: himself.

How people rave about him is beyond me.

Me. They are just creating a story since there is nothing much to report on the De Jong story and we must know that the media have been saying Ronaldo wanted out since Jan.

Based on what i have observed, he is just playing his cards but he wont make a move until it becomes very prominent that the club is not going to make any moves for the expected players. Considering the bids we are making for some of the players, we can say that he is going to stay.
