Apologies if there is a thread that covers this recently released docu-film on Amazon Prime, I couldn't find one.
I watched 'Rooney' earlier in the week. I am not entirely sure why himself and Coleen have agreed and made the film. I don't know what purpose they want it to serve.
A few quid? Raise their profile? Clear the air on their marriage? Or show off their new gaff etc..
Context. I think Rooney was one of the best players to play in the league. Smashing footballer who had a lot of the attributes and delivered on a near consistent basis.
The Film focussed on a lot of his time with England, and less so at Club level which was disappointing.
Save for the last 20 mins which focussed on United and the Transfer request. The start focused on his upbringing around Croxteth where he grew up, and was 'brought up to fight'.
He made the claim that he and the teams he was part of at United, didn't get the recognition that they deserved due to the success of the 1999 United Squad.
(Topic for debate, but what we would give for a league title now).
Some decent ex-pros and managers spoke of him, all well of course.
To include, Gary Neville, Rio, Thierry Henry, David Beckham, David Moyes and Sven-Göran Eriksson.
SAF was bit part in it, mainly file footage and concerning Rooney's Transfer request. Which was all terribly handed and needless. Apart from the fact Wayne got the improved contract, of course.
Some interesting admissions from Wayne with regards to his premeditated plans to hurt Chelsea, buy changing his studs for bigger ones.
But ultimately, the same studs (in the same game) were to play a part in him breaking bones in his foot before the World Cup in 2006.
Not sure why he felt the need to bring this up.
Its resulted a warning from the FA https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...-claims-wanted-hurt-against-Chelsea-2006.html
Bringing up his past off-field issues too, having discussions with Coleen and Wayne in the kitchen was a 'red neck' for me.
Its not something I would have got involved with. But credit to them they did it.
All in all, it showed his ruthless nature along with the family man and football manager.
With some humiliation of his past thrown in.
