Correctly predicted Italy to win Euro 2020
If Chelsea want around £45 million for Gallagher then McT is around the same price.
NoDo you think DeZerbi might fancy McT to replace Caicedo?
So we should just sell him for any fee? How does that make sense?Or hold on to him when it was clear several years ago he isn't good enough.
It doesn't make sense to me either. Gallagher is a lot like Lingard but probably not as good either. The difference is he had his purple patch in front of the goal a bit earlier in his career.I do not understand how on earth Gallagher is worth 40 mio. or even more? Is it just because he is an English player and usually clubs pay in general more due to this fact or does he really have something? Sorry, but from following his time at Chelsea, I never saw any proper qualities where I thought he could have made an impact. For me he will end up like most of the average players and clubs pay for him 40-50 mio.? So and then here we are sitting and thinking how can we get for Fred and McT each 10-15 mio. We must doing something totally wrong when it comes to selling. Do not get me wrong but I see McT on a similar level like Gallagher only with the difference that the latter may play both (offensive/defensive).
I agree with that in general, however, during the two seasons 20/21 and 21/22, McT was basically a fix starter and played most of the games for 90 minutes since we did not really have many options left. So even during this two seasons where he played many games and, let's say, put a good performance, I do not think we would have been able to sell him for the amount Chelsea is requiring for Gallagher. I just think clubs are got used that we overpay for players but on the other hand receive underestimates values for our own players, and this is something our club needs to take a very deep look at it. Taking a look at Chelsea and seeing how many players they sold where I personally think, they are not even worth that money, shows their good approach of selling. The problem is that our players mentioned is considered bench warmers. They haven't played and exceled in a while therefore their market value plumets. If McTominay would have been a starter at say West Ham, a starter in the Scottish side and played 30+ games a season his value would easily been around the same value as Gallagher. Now his considered a bit of a failure and therefore the bids a more of a "we can help you and your club with this donation"-kind of offers. Sad, but that is the market of today.
Definitely, I sure hope we can get for him 25 mio., and think he may be a great fit for a club like West Ham.It doesn't make sense to me either. Gallagher is a lot like Lingard but probably not as good either. The difference is he had his purple patch in front of the goal a bit earlier in his career.
I do think we can get 20-25m for McTominay, maybe a bit more but there needs to be a serious desire from him to leave.
We could end up with a lingard situation and he leaves on a free in a few years. It's debatable if he's good enough for our bench and now is the time to get something for him while his stock is somewhat high and clubs are interested. So we should just sell him for any fee? How does that make sense?
I am sure Lingard is a cautionary tale for some of the academy players at United too.We could end up with a lingard situation and he leaves on a free in a few years. According to some of the West Ham accounts who are usually decent for them, we're asking for £45m.CM market is absolutely ridiculous so if Connor is 45m Scott is easily at least 40m.
We have lost out on selling players by holding onto them for longer than needed. Lingard should have been sold years ago, and now is the time to get rid of Scott when the opportunity arises. He just isn't good enough to be even a squad player.I am sure Lingard is a cautionary tale for some of the academy players at United too.
Scottish international is hardly the barometer to be a successful player here. There are Championship and SPL footballers in that setup, and probably some from League One.He's good enough as a squad player. He's an Scottish international.
The level of disrespect our players get here is disgraceful. I hope none of them read the crap in the Caf.
Embarrassing. None of us know how much they have to sacrifice to get to be a professional footballer. And yet...
We have Mount and Bruno for that. Why are we keeping a player that should be surplus to requirements?I don’t think we sell him. Amrabat replacing Fred means he can play further forward as a physical advanced 8 where he belongs instead of us trying to shoe horn him into a DM role he doesn’t suit.
They’re both bang average aren’t they. If Chelsea can get fecking 50m for Gallagher then I’m sure they’ll be laughing. What the feck are people smoking - he's in no way shape or form better than Gallagher. We're talking about a midfielder that struggles to get onto the ball 30 times a game.
Gallagher over the last 2 seasons has almost matched Scott McTominay's career league goal total. 11 goals to McTominays 12 in the last 6 years.

Or a massive success story, depending on your viewpoint. He stuck around for almost a decade in and around the first team of Manchester United without possessing any noteworthy talent, getting paid more than handsomely in the process. It's pretty much The Dream for the average youngsters.I am sure Lingard is a cautionary tale for some of the academy players at United too.
Oh right. I didn’t realise we weren’t allowed a squad and had to compete with 11 players. My mistake. We have Mount and Bruno for that. Why are we keeping a player that should be surplus to requirements?
Maybe not any fee but we shouldn't price him out of a move for some misguided notion of trying to prove a point. Getting 20-25m for someone of McTominay's quality would be amazing; holding out for 40m, like some people suggest, is a surefire way of ending up stuck with him, paying his wages and letting him leave on a free in the end.So we should just sell him for any fee? How does that make sense?
Do people realise that saying 40m is just a negotiation tactic? Chelsea said they wanted 80m for Mount when we were first linked.Maybe not any fee but we shouldn't price him out of a move for some misguided notion of trying to prove a point. Well, he stuck around too long and when he did want to leave, left for the wrong reasons. Could have gone to West Ham instead of getting the $$$. Short-term gain but now where is he? Almost washed out in his prime years.Or a massive success story, depending on your viewpoint. He stuck around for almost a decade in and around the first team of Manchester United without possessing any noteworthy talent, getting paid more than handsomely in the process. It's pretty much The Dream for the average youngsters.
Yeah I'm sure a player who's managed a career haul of 5 assists is going to thrive in the final third. He’s been used in the wrong position his whole United career. He will thrive if he get’s the chance to play further up the pitch. But the competition for a place higher up the pitch in a team like United is to harsh.
He seems like a good lad, 100% professional. I really hope he will revive his career somewhere else and we get a good chuck of money.
Gallagher did more in a season at Palace than McTominay will manage at any point in his career. They’re both bang average aren’t they. If Chelsea can get fecking 50m for Gallagher then I’m sure they’ll be laughing.
I’d take 30 for Scotty to be honest.
Don't even bother mate, seems like some have decided he isn't good enough and get rid regardless of even trying to get the fee that would be right for him.So we should just sell him for any fee? How does that make sense?
No chance, I don’t think he’s on our radar due to his price. We’re not spending the money needed to sign him on a midfielder this summer. If we sell this guy, Fred and Martial, we can still go for Caicedo I feel.
So you are an optimist then? I am resigned with the fact that he will get new contract next season and stay here until he is 30. He is new Jesse Lingard. Not good enough for the club but a survivor.I’m resigned to the fact McTominay will be here until his contract ends and leaves on a free.
