Needless to say, we wouldn’t have our European Cup title in 1968 and England wouldn’t have their 1966 World Cup without him. However, without his bravery in resuming football after the tragic events in Munich, we wouldn’t have had Fergie and most of our post-Munich trophies too, simply because without him, the club would likely have been in a far too dire situation to get back to the top. We’d never have been able to attract managers of the calibre of Fergie and the world class players that came after him.

Quite simply, one of the most important people in our club’s history. Rest in eternal peace Sir Bobby.
Very well said. Thanks for that.

My condolences to family and close friends. A sad day

Had the pleasure of watching him grace OT., he was a very skillful and graceful player, but also a very humble person who also knew that representing Manchester United was not a right but an honour and privilege gained by hard work and dedication. How many players today walking through a local park seeing a bunch of young lads wearing utd., shirts and having a kick about would join in for the fun of it. He did though.

RIP., and Thanks for the memories.

In the past week, there have been posts saying United have died but really a massive part of United has died today.

I am way too young to have seen you play but thank you for everything you did for this club and for your human heroics in Munich. You will never be forgotten at United nor should you be. Codladh sámh Sir Bobby

To be fair most players today wouldn't know how to walk anywhere.

Incredibly sad news. Two massive losses for the Manchester United family in such a short space of time. Lady Cathy and now Sir Bobby. I’ve really felt them both. It hurts to see such an iconic figure, and gentleman depart this world. He means so much to United, England and football in general.

I dread the day when Sir Alex leaves us.

Sir Bobby was a true legend and his legacy will live on forever. The embodiment of the true heart of Manchester United.

I look at it differently, A hugely important person in the clubs history has left us but the fact we have that and many more show the club is very much alive. The club is steeped in history which makes it so much more than some of the plastic stuff we see throughout the football world

Sadly can't give you a like, but could not have put it better, a true legend and a gentleman.

In his pomp, he was something else. The deceptive body swerve, the turn of speed and the rocket with either foot.It only seems like yesterday that I was watching him play. RIP Bobby. You've joined the immortals.

A huge part of Manchester United and English football has died today. To come back from Munich to win the World Cup and European Cup shines a light on the fact they just dont make them like that anymore. Imagine seeing all your mates and heroes die in front of you, to the point where you hair fell out in your 20s due to trauma. And to have that mentality to go on and do the things he did? You dont get them like that anymore.
Good post.

The greatest English player ever. His resilience was and should be an embodiment to our club. A genuine representative of what this club should stand for. His spirit should and will continue to inspire our youth policy in spite of our custodians, may he rest in peace.

I'm old enough to remember falling in love with the United of Law, Best and Sir Bobby. Manchester United; Football as a whole, have lost an ambassador. Someone who embodied the joyous reasons the game is enduringly popular.

RiP Sir Bobby.

What a sad day, the word legend is thrown around so much these days but it’s a term genuinely deserving for Sir Bobby. A true footballing legend at club level and international level and United through and through, rest easy Sir Bobby.
