So, to what percentage do you think Fergie had an influence on the Ole and Mike Phelan appointment?

See thread title and ignore that decimal percentages exist.

Was gonna make a thread like this, although slightly better.

It certainly suggests he’s had some say

75%.

Perfect appointment for the board/Woodward as the appointment will appease the fans.
What the freak is the point of "appeasing the fans"? Fans will have their arms up and demanding Woodward's head if the team performs even worse under the caketaker.

Fairly sure he'll have had a big input here, but this also has Woodward's fingerprints all over it (cheap salary, no longer any pressure to spend in the January window, Pogba/Martial kept happy, angry fans temporarily appeased).

I’d like to think we’re not stressing Fergie at all about football stuff giving his recent health issues.
This. I highly doubt Fergie is involved in the football side at all at the moment.

Angry fans have been demanding we do things properly. I.e we appoint a DoF and let him select a manager. Woody has done exactly that. Why all the negativity?

Club legend. Not many people dislike OGS. But i agree with you that it can massively backfire as OGS has previously been vocal against the Glazers and the takeover.

I think Woodward can’t be bothered to deal with any arseholes or ego’s At the moment while he concentrates on getting the right appointment. His got 6 months to tap up or identify the right man for next season. Ole will smile and say the right things and keep the peace and morale while Ed deals with the mess behind the scenes.
Very very smart hire in my opinion.

I feel that Woodward is desperate to be liked again and he hired a fan favourite and Fergie's right hand to get us excited again.

But then again, Fergie looked pretty pissed watching that Liverpool game. Maybe he went to Eds office and released the hairdryer. But I think it's the former.

All down to Uncle Evra obvs :D

It's not necessarily Fergie but Phelan has certainly come from our football brains rather than Woody i think.

What an interesting thread. Wish I thought of it.
Assuming that he was asked then I would say that he probably would have suggested at least Mike Phelan.

For some reason I am underwhelmed by Ole and listening to a lady Cardiff City supporter this morning she echoed my thoughts.
Her view was that it quickly became chaotic at Cardiff with little overall strategy. In summary she felt the job was beyond his capacity to deal with.

I hope he had learnt quickly from that but we all know that the problems at United probably dwarf those of Cardiff.

I hope SAF is well. As to the OP, I have no idea; OGS with a good opportunity here. Will he be supported? Will Pogba approve?

Are you the ref?
After the final whistle at Anfield, Fergie went down to the away changing room grabbing cups and hairdryers on the way down. First, he went up to Mourhino and punched his lights out. He then gave the full Fergie treatment to our team. He then got on his private helicopter and went to Woodward's house and punched his lights out too. He then phoned the Glazers and told them we're getting the band together so they can stay the feck out of it until they are told any different.

It's true, I heard it from a source.

Well, we have the freedom of knowing we're not going down and, with the 11 point gap between us and fourth, there really isn't much to lose this season.

Not many people dislike OGS the supersub legend. Who is a very different man from OGS the manager whose only spell outside of football wasteland was a flop skint at Cardiff. If the team suffers under OGS then that will only harm his legacy and make fans remember him as nothing but a flop caretaker.

By Fergies face on the weekend and his notorious temper, I’d say he definitely give someone in the club a call and kickstarted the process.

No body in the world would sit by idly and watch something you’ve spent 25 years building crumble.

Definitely had some impact.

I'd love to know if he regrets leaving United in the relatively abrupt manner he did, at a time when no great first choice options were available to replace him.

doubt SAF has had any say in this, it seems an easy one for Woody, bring back a couple of fan favourites to appease the crowd and gives a perfect excuse not to spend any money in Jan.

Redacfe is getting funny the last few days, cant believe someone really created a poll for that nonsense  but nice anyway, a poll should always be used if offered
