A couple of years ago I think it was Jamie Carragher that said on MNF he thought it was basically impossible for Spurs to improve their 1-11 as it had everything and that they only needed a couple of better squad players to go on and win a Championship. A couple seasons later and all of a sudden there's probably one or two of their players that would regularly start for City or Liverpool and to be honest United and Chelsea on recent form. Spurs chose to not really properly invest when they were genuinely considered as one of the top two or three sides in the league from 2016-2018 and I think they could potentially be regretting that. For example that team that finished in 2017 with 86 points, if they had added a couple of top top players that summer they would certainly be in better position now and might have picked up some silverware along the way and when you look at the squad they have now and combined with their managerial situation it really does show how quickly football can change.
