Stan Kroenke is set to take full ownership of Arsenal in a deal valuing it at £1.8bn

Damn. While I feel a bit for Arsenal fans, I'll be interested in seeing whether Usmanov will put in some serious investment elsewhere.

Hundred percent Usmanov is going to Everton.

Bad news for Arsenal fans. Kroenke is absolutelv indifferent to whether his teams are winning silverware or not so long as they are good enough to keep making him money. Look forward to seeing them finishing 4th for years to come.

Hi K,

This needs a thread of its own. Can you kindly start one, please? I'm just on my way out and will be driving.

Maybe instead of "the football club" it could say Arsenal in the title?

I thought the Arsenal fans wanted him out. This wont please them..

That said, he is sort of backing their new manager..

Can only be good for Arsenal that the good looking Russian guy wants out as having one guy taking control of decisions is better than a constant power struggle

Cash flow must be high for Kroenke if thst makes him to take full ownership

He’s going to making a killing off the new Los Angeles stadium deal. That stadium is going to host every major spending event in the next 10 years plus all that prime real estate surrounding it. Also he’s married to a Walton (Walmart) and owns several other sports franchises.

Oh the irony after those American Flags at the 2005 Cup Final

United are obviously better off than Arsenal, but the Glazer ownership is far from ideal.
Since the start of summer 2016, we've spent just shy of £400mil.

So there’s rumours Stam Kroenke wants to buy Arsenal outright and is going to take a loan out to buy the rest.

Imagine if their grim era since the emirates being built was only the prelude to Kroenke owned era:lol:

They haven't even done that in the last couple of years.

Jaap Stam Kroenke

Terrible news, he should be heading out instead of entrenching himself further.

These American owners are disgraceful, the premier league has a responsibility to stop a loan payment takeover. There is something wrong about paying off a stadium for years and then this happens. I absolutely hate Arsenal but we know how the Glazers put us in to debt. Who knows what kind of force we would be with the right owner's.

Of our own money, not the Glazers. And you can argue that the Glazers have improved sponsorship all you want, but that's not true either. The club is benefiting from an enhanced TV deal and our past successes under Sir Alex. The Glazers only started allowing the club to invest its own money into the team when we finished outside the top four. This year is another indication of how the Glazers intend to slow down spending on the first team to pocket the difference.

Maybe you haven't got the memo, but United are financially far bigger than Arsenal. We could have had Kroenke as our owner and we would have still spent £400m because its self generated.

Both Kroenke and the Glazers operate in similar ways. They hire other people to run the club because they don't understand the industry and are happy so long as the profits are coming in.

Even the most ardent Glazier hater will tell you you are talking horseshit there my friend. It's undeniable that the Glaziers have drastically improved our profitability and marketability since their tenure began. Putting us in the same category as Arsenal is ridiculous. There's really no point discussing this with you when that's your opening statement.

So your problem with the Glazers is they hire experts to run the club as opposed to having a crack at it themselves? Carry on. :wenger:

No not at all. I don't have a particular problem with the Glazers. I simply disagreed with this idea that Kroenke is the big bad evil and the Glazers are alright. Whatever you think of them they have to be similar because they operate in similar ways.

You could replace the owners and the situations would be quite similar because neither owners actually provide input to the way the club is run. The Glazers hired Woodward while Kroenke relied on Wenger and Gazidis (Arsenal are a very profitable business nowadays, if the Glazers deserve credit for our profitability then so does Kroenke for Arsenal's).

So the point is that 'we have spent £400m' is largely irrelevant regarding ownership. We would spent close to that amount if Kroenke was our owner as well.

How? Because they hired marketing experts?

Worst news I've heard in years. Was starting to get optimistic this season with the new manager and team but I guess Arsenal fans aren't allowed to be happy or optimistic :( This has killed all the joy I had looking forward to the new season. If things go bad quickly, we know Kroenke won't care as long as he makes his quick buck.

Arsenal is officially dead now. We're no longer a 'top' team anymore. Just hoping to turn a profit.

The old, classy Arsenal is completely gone now.

Wouldn't be surprised if we get a new logo soon or even change the name to "London Arsenal" in order to ´strengthen the brand' or some crap like that.

Takeovers where loans are taken out against the club, riddling them with debt and interest payments should be banned. They either have the money or you don't.

Wenger was the only person who could slap some sense into Kroenke's head and maybe turn the fans against the board (if only He's a dick ala Jose). But He's retired and now Emery is just a "newbie" at Arsenal. I'd be worried if I was an Arsenal fan.
