I have been mentioning him for months. He could easily slot at both RW and LW giving us options. You need 40m though at this pointTechnically a very good player. Someone who would fit perfectly in the 4231 system. Can operate everywhere in one of the positions behind the forward. Comfortable going on the outside and inside of players.
Has apparently played behind the forward in the attacking midfield position for PSV this season, but last season spent most of his times on the wing, producing 14 goals and 12 assists. Along with that, he also averaged 2 key passes per game.
This season, he already has 7 assists in 9 apps, with an avg of 3 key passes per game. So in terms of creativity - something we're really crying out for, this guy certainly fits the ball and someone i'd have liked to see us to a gamble on, especially for 25m that was apparently being touted for him.
This.I have to say I thought he looked a good player during the Nations League games back in June. The first time I've seen him play properly and he looked a lot more polished than the YouTube videos showed that had been posted previously.
Obviously I'm sticking to my guns and saying that Sancho is almost imperative if we want to be serious about transforming this team soon, but if we couldn't make that happen then I wouldn't be disappointed if we got Bergwijn.
He is a LW who can play on the right mate. We need a specialist RW. Chiesa would be nice.Played on the right for The Netherlands yesterday and was good. Has played there before too. He switched positions with Babel and Memphis a couple of times. Can play across the front it seems.
Okay but he's still very good on the right, better than anything we have and better than most "specialist right wingers". Haven't watched Chiesa play so don't know about him. Still hope we can get Sancho but if that's impossible I would like us to go for someone like Bergwijn or maybe Chiesa if he's as good as you say.He is a LW who can play on the right mate. I even think in this day and age, 40m is nothing for someone who put up the type of numbers he did last season.I have been mentioning him for months. He could easily slot at both RW and LW giving us options. You need 40m though at this point
So do I mate. We've needed a RW since Fergie left and possibly before.Okay but he's still very good on the right, better than anything we have and better than most "specialist right wingers". He seems more creative than Lucas and with Le Celso seemingly stepping up to the player we thought we had gotten he would be a good addition. Still need a striker though. Its interesting that Bergwijn has played most games this season at AM, exciting to see how he fits in.It seems that Spurs got their hands on this guy for a relatively modest fee of around 30-35 million pounds. Bit of a weird saga last weekend with Bergwijn suddenly being unable to play for PSV because he was flying to London while the directors at PSV didn't seem to know what was going on.
Good and seriously interesting player, with pace to burn and good allround technical and dribbling qualities. He hasn't really been able to make his mark when playing for the Dutch NT in the same he's done for PSV, which makes me think it might take a year of settling in before he can replicate his PSV form in the PL.
Ultimately he might also be more of a Lucas Moura level player than a truly unique talent, but at the same time there's something interesting about him. He's a much better dribler than someone like Walcott was for instance. With the injuries they have, he might play an important part for the Netherlands this summer as well at the Euro's.
It's being reported as £25.4M plus a possible £1.7M in add-ons.It seems that Spurs got their hands on this guy for a relatively modest fee of around 30-35 million pounds. Yeah seems a snip of a deal if true. It's being reported as £25.4M plus a possible £1.7M in add-ons.
I think it's a bit of a punt for us - at that price it's a risk worth taking though. He obviously has a lot of talent and if he adapts well then he could be an excellent player for us. Even if it doesnt work that well he at the very least will add some much needed pace off the bench which will improve our squad.Really interested to see how he'll get on. Definitely not convinced he will be able to succesfully make the transition to the premier league. Plenty of talent, but not the most consistent player in the world and, like Memphis, someone who needs confidence to perform well. Which he got at PSV since he was their most important player, but won't get since he's a reletive nobody walking in to London.
The fact he perpetually looks confused doesn't instill me with much confidence either.
30 million is a steal though.
Having some Dutch speakers in the squad should help him settle if his English isn't the best.I think it's a bit of a punt for us - at that price it's a risk worth taking though. Nice, right now the most reliable Dutch outlets are saying it will be a minimum of 32 million euro that PSV gets, which is 27 million pounds. Weirdly enough this 'minimum' already has some add-ons included, but more add-ons could bring it towards 30 million pounds. Regardless of the exact numbers and the journalists struggling to get them right, it's definitely the closest thing to getting a proper bargain in this crazy market. It's being reported as £25.4M plus a possible £1.7M in add-ons.
Doubt his English will be a problem. It's basically a second language everyone speaks here. Apart from most olds.Having some Dutch speakers in the squad should help him settle if his English isn't the best.
Good to know, I've only been to Amsterdam but yeah most people spoke better English than me .Doubt his English will be a problem. It's basically a second language everyone speaks here. Apart from most olds.
Was about to say similar. My wife is half Dutch, half Egyptian and most Dutch people I meet over there speak better English than people here. The uneducated louts.Doubt his English will be a problem. It's basically a second language everyone speaks here. Apart from most olds.
Vincent Janssen is a sensation in Mexico. I heard people are even naming children after him.Was about to say similar. My wife is half Dutch, half Egyptian and most Dutch people I meet over there speak better English than people here. The uneducated louts.
This guy is clearly going to be the next Suarez. Hopefully not like the last Dutch attacker we bought from the Netherlands....

That only gets you a 16 year old playing in the Championship these days......apparently.Really interested to see how he'll get on. Yeah, Agreed with all of this. We desperately need some on form attackers with Memphis and Malen out. Luckily Luuk de Jong apparently found some form which would make him an okay target man, but without good wingers he's useless. This is true
I think Spurs made a move at the right time, PSV is in chaos right now and everyone seems angry and confused after the sacking of Van Bommel. Normally in this crazy inflated market they should've at least got 40 million pounds for a player like this, last summer Napoli paid more for Lozano who I never really liked and I'd say Bergwijn is definitely the more talented out of those two, also younger. Missing out on 10 million like that isn't exactly going to help close the gap with Ajax.
As for Bergwijn, I'd be quite surprised if he hits the ground running but I do hope so because we really need a forward player in good form for the Euros. Not really sure how a young player like this would work under Mourinho as well, historically he hasn't been the most patient developer type of coach. Unlike Vincent Janssen this guy actually has a good basic level of skills though, but just like so many other players he might not be ready to perform at such a high level until he's 24-26 years old.
Much better technique, vision and footballing ability... not as quick as James though.Dutch Daniel James

Just goes to show that our board didn’t back him.Mourinho is doing some great business at Spurs. Fernandes, Bergwijn and apparently they've signed Lo Celso permanently. All whilst shipping Eriksen.
Can't see us wanting Fernandes now tbh. Unless Bergwijn has been signed as a CF.Mourinho is doing some great business at Spurs. Fernandes, Bergwijn and apparently they've signed Lo Celso permanently. All whilst shipping Eriksen.

He is - all young players coming in also which is encouraging. Not even a hint of Matic or Fellaini either which were certain in-comings if you believed some of the people in here!Mourinho is doing some great business at Spurs. I did like the Matic / Eriksen swap deal idea.He is - all young players coming in also which is encouraging. Not even a hint of Matic or Fellaini either which were certain in-comings if you believed some of the people in here!
Flipping heck I didn't!I did like the Matic / Eriksen swap deal idea.
