Steven Gerrard - complete player?

Gerrard always was and always will be a poor mans Roy Keane. Even when Keane was 33 with a dodgy hip and knee he'd have Gerrard on a short leash when we ever we played that lot. Keano would slow the game down and Gerrard would be running around like a headless chicken wasting his energy and when he was fecked Keane would speed it up and "Stevie G" would go missing, meandering around the part aimlessly like a looking for his mum in a shopping centre, and after a while, once Gerrard got some energy back and summoned up a bit of courage to sprint around like an idiot again, spraying pointless and easily cut out long balls, Keano would slow it down and Gerrard would do his little fish-out-of-water routine again. If it wasn't so pathetic it might have been funny, and if I have had a little more compassion I'd probably feel sorry for him.

You would have thought he'd grow out of it, but he hasn't.

One of the most misguided posts ever. Might as well say Rooney is a poor man's Kenny Dalglish.

Gerrard.

Great for Liverpool, crap for England. And he will be crap (along with Lampard) so long as the Idiot still insists on playing two attacking-minded midfielders in the centre.

The way Svennis is going, we'll line up in Germany with Owen in goal and David James leading the line.

Even LWAR agreed with what me and MThomas said. Has the potential to be the best but he's not clever enough.

He is the best, what's more he's one of the top 3 players in the country and probably the most influential player in the league.

Idiots see him misplace a pass and role out the "tries too much" nonsense....he's not perfect, just fantastic.

He's got the lot

He's among the best in the League thats for sure.

Define "clever". Is Rio "clever"? Rooney?

Intelligence on the pitch in terms of central midfield is very important. Basically knowing when to go forward, when to attack, when to play it simple, when to play it long.

Rooney and Rio although not probably clever off the pitch have shown enough understanding and reading of the game to make me think they are clever on it. So yes, they are clever footballers.

Gerrard's MOTM performances in both qualifiers against Turkey was a big reason why England were at the Euros last time out

He was awful in the Euro's. First major tournament or not, even Nicky Butt would of probably performed better.

Who voted for them then? You?

Rooney in the first game was awesome.

Rio makes plenty of mistakes.

Rooney chases all over the pitch just as much as Gerrard, but of course when Rooney tracks back its "determination", when Gerrard goes forward and gets caught its "indiscipline".

And since Keane left I'd say Gerrard can just about pass better than anyone on your team.

Scholes is up there.

Great future that young lad has got.

Doubt he'll ever get back in the England set up ;)

If you use your head for once you will find out that your statement is quite irrelevant.

Then he was simply wrong, so was you.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

Even though the both of us know I'm right.

You are very rarely right, regarding anything at all.

No, based on many games

You've only mentioned one.

So he doesn't pass like Zidane (not that anyone does). Everyone can see that. He does have other redeeming qualities that make up for it.

Hence, he's still one of the best (just behind Lampard ;)) midfielders in the Prem, and in Europe and only clueless Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime believe he's a "poor man's Roy Keane".
