Tevez refused to play

"He let down the Sheikh!!1!!"

MANCHESTER CITY have sensationally backed down over manager Roberto Mancini's claim that Carlos Tevez refused to play in Munich.
Tevez will attend a club disciplinary hearing today to deal with his behaviour during the Champions League clash against Bayern last month.

But SunSport has learned from City sources that the club do NOT intend to charge him with the outright accusation he refused to take the field.

And none of the players on the bench or Mancini's coaching staff can confirm that substitute Tevez refused to play.

The charge against Tevez will now read that the Argentinian striker "refused to carry out the instructions of Roberto Mancini and Ivan Carminati (the fitness coach) to resume warming up with a view to playing in the match".

We understand Carminati even admits he thought that when Tevez stood up, he was going to return to his warm-up — before Mancini told the player he was not going to play him.

Mancini told the media immediately after the 2-0 defeat on September 27 that Tevez had refused to play and that he was "finished" at City.

But without support from those on the bench, he has been left out on a limb.

Tevez was suspended by City for a fortnight and could be fined.

I know it's the Sun, but would anyone be surprised.

Watch him make the bench on Sunday.

"He let down the Sheikh!!1!!"

Would make a great terrace song...

Hard to believe Mancini got that wound up over nothing then lied about it, or was that confused over something so simple.

I suspect they are trying to bring his transfer value back up. In a few weeks teams desperate for goals won't be thinking about this anymore as they talk themselves into a big winter window transfer.

just seen this on BBC.

Carlos Tevez will attend a disciplinary hearing at which Manchester City are expected to back down over claims he refused to play against Bayern Munich

Would not be a shock and to be honest what most expect.
If it does happen , how can Mancini carry on with any creditability.

He cant!

Christ, Tevez admitted it in the post match interview.

Bad day for football if they let him off the hook.

I think mancinis stance has softened and there won't be any problems. Typical shitty club though - lots of talk and other peoples money..hehe

Thing is, the more they condemn him the more his sell-on value drops, so pragmatically speaking, it's probably more beneficial to them to make things appear all rosy to maintain his value as best they can and at the end of the day he's a quality player aswell who may be needed if one or two of their forwards pick up injuries. All in all, they may aswell make the most of a bad situation and try to get things between himself and the club stable again before trying to sell him for a price that matches their valuation in January, something that wouldn't happen if they condemned him and made it pretty clear they wanted him out ASAP.

Well if that is true , than Mancini is not the manager I thought he was , he will have demonstrated , a lack of a back bone and the players will walk all over him.
For a manager to come out so strongly and say a player is finnish and then to back down is not something I would want to see in a manager.

Regardless of what happens Tevez has got exacly what he wanted. An untenable position at City which means they will more than likely sell him, he's driven his price down and by refusing to play he won't be cuptied in Europe for when he does move.

The outcome shouldn't make a difference. If they can't prove Tevez refused to come on, fair enough. Mancini knows what he heard. He said Tevez is finished at the club. The manager picks the team. This shouldn't change anything.

It'll be typical of the club though. Sweep it under the carpet. The stories of it being a misunderstanding are all coming out now almost in preparation of whats to come. Usually you wouldn't believe rumors so much but after seeing him being interviewed after their euro game, I think he definitely looked like someone who didn't care as much...maybe someones whispered something in his ear. Wouldn't be surprised and he's got a good job so he probably wouldn't want to rock the boat.

Mancini won't back down over this regardless of what the little shit is charged with, he won't play for City again and quite rightly. They should stick him in the reserves for the remainder of his contract

They'd only be able to stick him in the reserves for one season and then he'd be able to walk on a free.

I would not be so sure.
He admitted that after the game he did not feel right to play , if that is not a refusal than I don't know what one is.
I think Mancini is be made to look a fool I would not be a shock if he was on the bench on Sunday

City obviously have no intention of selling him to a top European side at the moment, so I wouldn't bank on Mancini coming off best if he made an ultimatum like that.

This is pathetic. He really is a cancer in the game.

After getting over the initial hilarity that he was doing this to City, his actions really are sad for the game imo. Despicable.

Clearly it won't happen because he's a very talented player but I hope that no-one, either in Europe or South America goes for him.

Another Kia exclusive.
