You cant play your game if, exactly when you win the ball, you end up having 3 midfielders tackling you. Games are usually won and lost in CM. We were lucky to have wingers capable of compensating to that and a referee who havent noticed Carrick's foul on Mancini
I don't agree at all with your excuse for our midfield display. We had more than enough ball to play our normal game, quick passing. We just didn't. Because Scholes and Carrick failed to pass with any tempo. It's not like when we faced Milan and were bullied off the ball. Roma denied us space, very well but didn't deny us the ball. We just didn't use it properly in midfield. Which was down to us not them. When ever we passed the ball quicker we looked dangerous and that is why we even scored. But we didn't do it consistently enough. I have little doubt about that. and as for the Carrick thing, Carrick won the ball. It was a very good decision by the ref.

The difference between Roma and AC Milan is lack of experience. Roma played more or less the same system Milan played with the only difference that AC Milan were more aggressive and knew how to use the ball better, frustrating us and making us do mistakes in the process. Against Roma we had more time to think, stating that it was hard to create anything from central midfield with Perrotta, De Rossi and Aquilani around. Lets face it, Scholes is terrible when defending and Carrick is great but slow. Together they struggle against a hardworking 3 men midfield.

That not the point neither is what you say true. Roma and Milan play nothing alike. Milan were plain aggressive. With Gattuso instructed to destroy our football. They never forced into mistakes. He just didn't let us play at all. Roma just left us little space to operate. But allowed us to have th ball .If we had used it better we would have played better. We did little for we didn't use our possession well. Just like they failed to turn their possession into goals. Both us and them were our own worst enemies.

Against Roma we had more time to think,
Exactly. Because the gave us ball. We just needed to use it faster and well. Which we didn't. That had little to do with them.

That is a pointless statement. Carrick and Scholes created little not becasue of being slower, than Roma's excellent midfield, or being worse defensively. They just didn't use the ball. Like they can. Period! There was nothing else wrong. I insist. Roma gave us enough ball for us to cause damage. All they did was close space well and hit on a the counter. Like any well organised away side. So we had to play our best game to get through them. We just didn't. Scholes and Carrick were just using the ball too poorly. Too slow and too simple. Sideways, backwards garbage. Then pointless long balls with the wingers, with forwards well marked. Which was strictly their fault, not down to anything Roma did
