Crawford v Spence, who wins that? Baring in mind Spence is quite big at the weight and Crawford has come up from lightweight.
I think Crawford was always a welterweight boiling down to lightweight. He carries the size well naturally but I feel this is his weight class. Spence I feel is a junior middleweight boiling down so yeah he's a bigger guy.

I think the style of Crawford is all wrong for Spence. Spence hits hard but he's not exactly Felix Trinidad as far as accuracy and certainly not power. He's a hard hitting accumulation guy not a one hitter quitter guy I feel. I think he's good in close and has a good body attack but he is slow on his feet, comes forward in straight lines and is very easy to hit with the straight right. He offers next to no head movement. Crawford is about the most versatile and complete fighter in the sport and has great IQ. He will be able to move around Spence and tag him all night I feel and Spence will not be able to get set enough. I see Crawford winning a clear cut decision around 117-111.

About a year ago I got a little insight from a source that's reliable. A friend of mine works in the trade (works for everlast and I believe dabbles in matchmaking) and is close to a number of fighters and managers personally told a close friend of mine that Crawford and Spence did spar earlier last year I believe. I've not heard too much about the specifics of where it was/who was closer to a fight etc; but the detail that I do know is that Crawford lit him up. That it was a couple rounds of Crawford just him boxing his ears off and then the last couple rounds was Crawford walking him down and giving him something of a beating.

Now this may or may not be true and maybe not such a big deal. Some guys just use sparring for different purposes but it's quite interesting when you see Spence talk about potential rivals he kind of shies away about Crawford or just says something like "Oh he hasn't beaten anybody his resume sucks" without sounding convinced and just generally unsure of himself and has excuses why a Crawford fight can't/shouldn't happen. Look at Crawford and he's the opposite and I saw an interview (you can probably find on youtube for his recent camp life episodes) when asked about potential rivals in the division he says Porter would likely be tough, that Danny Garcia is good and has history in the amateurs, that Thurman is a top guy with a difficult style and then Spence his tone kind of changes and then he sounds like he wants to say something but stops short. He's been very consistent with this and put Stephen A. Smith in his place when he said "On the eye test Spence is better than Thurman", Crawford said Thurman was the best and the eye test often lies.

Crawford can brush him off as much as he wants, Spence is still his biggest challenge at 47. While I like Crawford in the fight stylistically, the size difference cannot be ignored. I do think Crawford has enough juice to kill Spence’s confidence coming forward in that fight though, which would be key. Would expect a 7-5/8-4 type match-up in Crawford’s favour.

If Thurman can get back to his best, Thurman-Crawford would be an interesting fight, would expect it to be a chess match. Again, Thurman has the power advantage in that match-up, but Crawford is just so well-rounded that you can’t really look past him. Having said that, would still expect Thurman to win at least 4 rounds.

Styles make fights and I think Thurman at his physical and mental peak is the hardest style match for Crawford in the division. Danny Garcia being the easiest and Spence and Porter somewhere in between.

I don't think we'll see Thurman that focused again though. I noticed his last few fights he ran out of ideas and relied on athleticism to win. He has a lot of money invested in real estate and is a smart guy making money and doesn't need to fight. He also fell in love with some lady from Nepal and got married and I think those factors are more of an explanation of his long layoff's not just a basic surgery which was done over a year ago. It's very clear he's prolonging his "come-back" as long as possible a.k.a for Spence to outgrow the division so his big fights can be Porter and Garcia re-matches.

That's just my hunch but he's not been looking, talking and acting like a fighter with a point to prove the last two years. He's had a foot out for a long time.

WOW (if true).

Love Crawford. I'd be fearful of Spence's body shots though. What a match!

So Canelo will not be on PPV anymore at all. DAZN put a LOT of money into this. I’m interested to see if that’s the end of PPV (basically) or if that now means casual fans will instead buy other fights say like if Crawford-Spence can be made as a joint PPV venture instead of waiting to spend it on a Canelo fight or Mayweather “event”.

My experience with DAZN so far as that I like the production of the shows, I like the commentary and some of the backstage content they show. My issue is that it’s still a streaming service and even on 200mbps you can still get the occasional buffering or picture distortion.

I don’t think it will be huge even in a year or two years. I think it may take the duration of Canelos 5-year contract because I’m not sure enough people are ready to commit to watching sports like that yet. My guess is the investors probably know this and have a 10 year budget. I hope it succeeds because they have so much content. I mean there’s almost too many fights to watch them all nowadays.

If Netflix can work, then DAZN can too. Ok, it's live streaming, but you can just cast it with one click.

I've managed to procure tickets to Ryder v Sirotkin in a couple weeks - are they any good?

I'm not sure this is Hearn. He's a promoter who's exclusive to DAZN but he's not there promoter. They also have a deal now with Golden Boy. I don't think Hearn will be handling any of the Canelo promotions.

Yeah this is De La Hoya and Goldenboy joining up with DAZN.

Still good news for Hearn though.
Yeah for sure. More subscribers immediately and easy to make deals with GBP both being exclusive to DAZN.

The cynic in me though can’t help but think two things. 1. Canelo and GBP will be handpicking and cherry picking s lot of soft touches like Fielding. 2. Canelo will start every fight at least 4/5 rounds up on the cards with this much money invested. It was already almost impossible to beat him on the cards now it is impossible.

I found it funny that Canelo slapped a re-hydration clause on Fielding for the second day weigh-in. Hilarious because this is a fighter who refused to let people know his weight the day of the fight (because he had a major advantage) and it’s against a guy who’s only decent opponent KO’d him in a round.

I guess Mayweather schooled him in more than one way. I must admit I hate all this A side stuff and what Boxing has allowed to happen in that regard. I re-watch a lot of old fights (the 1960s/1970s probably being my favorite er) and Canelo isn’t cut from their cloth. I don’t think he’ll ever deserve to be spoken of as a great fighter.

Lol all this ‘A side stuff’ has been present in boxing long before Floyd was around

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Canelo will undoubtedly go down as a Mexican great

I don't see him being top 10 but I think he'll be top 12 most likely. The amount of controversial decisions and failed PED tests factor in surely. A side stuff has been around for a while yes but it's gotten worse and worse. I think Sugar Ray Leonard pulled it quite a bit but was fighting guys like Hagler but you've got Canelo doing it against guys like Angulo, Fielding etc;

Yeah but Angulo comes to fight and Fielding has a 2-foot height advantage over Canelo according to that pic on the Empire State Building

Those wanting to see Crawford vs. Spence will be disappointed to find out that Floyd Mayweather seemingly talking on behalf of Al Haymon said "We're not going to allow that fight to happen. That's got to build". Poor comments and in line with Spence getting drunk and taking the microphone at the Porter-Garcia post fight press conference talking trash about Crawford but admitting that he isn't going to fight him anytime soon. I think Spence is all talk. His competition level is terrible and he needs a big fight and there's a top fighter, who's rated pound for pound top two by most in Crawford who's instructed Arum publicly to make a fight with Arum coming out saying he wants it and all you get is silence from Spence's side/Haymon and Mayweather admitting they won't allow it.

Another fighter refusing to try and make good fights Gervonta Davis. Hearn made a huge offer to have him fight Tevin Farmer and the PBC turned it down so he could not fight instead. Since Lomachenko called his bluff he's fought one guy coming off 2 years off and a loss moving up in weight and got more active on Twitter. That's it.

With DAZN in the game and Top Rank being more willing to make good fights I feel the PBC are lagging behind. Their guys are the most inactive and even if and when they do fight it's more often than not awful mismatches. They can't even get unification fights for their biggest stars. I enjoy the Charlo's a lot and wish they'd sign with Hearn because they've fought nothing competition and will end this year with just one fight a piece. Awful.

This could go spectacularly wrong to be honest.

Fury has no filter and Rogan can get people like him to open up, especially if it's a 2+ hour interview, I can't see fury not saying something controversial. It'll be interesting anyway.

I've got a feeling it'll go well. He's a clown, a misguided clown, but he's not malicious. I don't believe anyway. I could be spectacularly wrong, we'll see.

I don't particularly mind him but he's come out with some very misguided views on people in the past. I just worry on something like Rogan where there's no filter (and Joe encourages it as well) he's bound to say something daft. Hope I'm wrong, I'll watch anyway.

"To be honest Joe, most fighters do a load of Clen....it's just accepted, ya know"

I was glad to find out he's training out here up in Big Bear rather than back home. That's a great location for him and will ensure he shows up in the best shape possible and the right mindset. I don't particularly like the guy but I want to see the best of both men in the ring because it's a very attractive match on paper.

Well I was wrong.

Really good listen, comes across well in it and hard not to respect the guy even if people don't like him.

Some interesting snippets about boxing in there but a lot of it about mental health and it's good to see someone of his level so honest and open about it.

Excellent interview. He's in a good place right now clearly, and I hope for him it continues. He's an intelligent fella when he's mentally sharp and has his unique charasmitic style. Loved the snippets of boxing insight. You can tell this is someone who has been fighting all his life. No doubt people that hate him will continue to hate him, but I always felt that he was a decent guy and like I said before, not a hateful malicious person. Glad he got the fight deal done with Wilder, and i back him to get the job done. Good luck to him.

Yes happily admit I was wrong as well, he is a interesting guy like him even more now. Wish there was bit more talk on the boxing aspect, the parts about his trainer/diet etc. towards the end were good.

It seemd quick for a Rogan podcast, especially with just 1 person on. If I had to guess I reckon Fury wanted to get back to training or something and had limited time and it seems judging by the interview he judges mental health as far more important than boxing (he says it in the interview.)

I think with Fury and others people have got to appreciate that humans are complex. Fury comes across as a decent guy most the time, I've seen him out and about (before he was a huge star) and he was always pleasant enough person, a few people I know saw him at the Euros the summer after the Wlad fight and said he was sound. I'm sure he can be a bit of a tit and he has had some bad stuff in the past but equally he's a troubled person and can be a good guy to.

I'll sit down and listen to this after the football. Been a TF fan since the C5 days, and I'm hoping he can pull off the incredible vs Wilder, buuut...

Good interview. Fury must be a great guy to interview because he’ll just open his heart. He came across as likable though here.

Prograis-Flanagan and Jacobs-Devreychenko coming up. I’m taking Prograis and I think Jacobs wins if he uses his jab well. Big advtantage in this matchup.

Josh Taylor and Ryan Burnett fights are free to watch on the WBSS youtube channel tonight btw.

Live stream:

And Mayweather has pulled out of the contest.

Loved watching him fight but he should stay retired.

He can't stay away, he has to stay relevant and he will get at least $100million any time he fights, can't really knock him. The best thing that would happen is if he lost and then the interest in him goes massively. I'd imagine he'll keep coming back til that happens.

Anyone from Dublin here? If so where would show the Bellew fight Saturday evening? Or will most places have it on? I'm there Friday and Saturday so wouldn't mind catching it.

Cheers
