Anyone find after playing a really great game you struggle to find the urge to pick up something new for a while? Since I finished God of War I've mostly just been pottering about No Man's Sky and sporadically playing the Pro Evo Demo & Rocket League. I want to start a new game this weekend but am struggling to chose one so I'll let the caf decide and I'll go with your eternal wisdom. some of these games I already have and some are available pretty cheap on sale on the PS Store.

Should I Start

Dying Light (owned)
What Remains of Edith Finch (Owned)
X-Com 2 (owned)
Doom
Wolfenstein II
Watch Dogs II
Wolfenstein 2.

I had that feeling since finishing Yakuza 6. But thankfully Shenmue remaster and Yakuza Kiwani 2 are out this month. Despite having lots of games, I just want to play them.

That would be a decent double whammy, there's a Wolfenstein II + Doom double deal for 25 quid on the PS Store.

Dying Light. Wolfenstein is decent but overrated. There's something off with the shooting mechanics and it can be frustrating as hell.

X-com 2 on hardest difficulty & i think (by reputation) that you can safely stop buying other games for a while.

I downloaded it purely on reputation, never played a game like that before, seems a bit daunting that one :nervous:

I'm looking for more of a casual, easy to get to grips with experience right now to do me until Pro Evo 2019 & Spiderman come out, Wolfenstein II, Dying Light and Doom seem to fit that mould.

That Dead Cells looks pretty good too but I'm determined to stick to my original list there's absolutely no need for me to be adding to my backlog :wenger:

I'm trying to get back into PC gaming again. Can people recommend good games that will be relatively cheap? Cheers.

Depends on what genre you'D like. If you like tactical online multiplayer, theres a few out there that are initially free, like World of tanks, world of warships, War Thunder, League of Legends etc...

Nvidia announces RTX 2000 GPU series with ‘6 times more performance’ and ray-tracing

$1,199 for Nvidia’s fastest ever GeForce card
By Tom Warren@tomwarren Aug 20, 2018, 1:26pm EDT

Nvidia is unveiling its new GeForce RTX 2000 series of graphics cards today at Gamescom in Germany today. While we’ve seen a number of teasers and plenty of card leaks recently, the GeForce RTX 2080 is finally official today. Based on Nvidia’s new Turing architecture, the RTX 2080 is designed to succeed the popular GTX 1080, and push new real-time ray-tracing effects in upcoming games.

At Nvidia’s event in Germany today, the company is unveiling the RTX 2070, RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti. Nvidia is promising “up to 6X the performance of previous-generation graphics cards,” and real-time ray-tracing for these cards. Asus, EVGA, Gigabyte, MSI, PNY, and Zotact will all have RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti cards available for pre-order today. Nvidia is offering Founders Editions for all three graphics cards. The GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition will be priced at $599, with the RTX 2080 Founders Edition at $799, and the RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition at $1,199. The Founders Edition cards will ship on September 20th, and we’re still awaiting details of the full specifications.
Anyone else excited?

Anyone getting Shenmue remastered games? @Kaos

They will be released tomorrow, and planning to get them. Like Baldurs Gate games, probably (likely), I won't ever play them.

That's only one component, yeah? Never built a PC. I read it's very satisfying to do from scratch and you get all the FPS in the world but when I see prices like that, I just think "Feck that."
Yep, three versions of one component. Though the kind of people who will be interested in these (ME) already own a high end PC so it's merely a matter of replacing your existing card. And selling it. To try and alleviate the pain of shelling out more than a f*cking grand.

I will wait until I see how they match up in the real world with the current gen cards.

My PC is horrendously out of date and is now completely failing to play newer games. So much needs updating that I've decided it's better to just get a new one. Aware of the whole "build it yourself" thing but from what I've seen the cost difference isn't actually that much.

Seen overclockers and novatech recommended for prebuilt pcs, but wondering if anyone knew of anywhere else that offered a decent range. Budget is probably £500-£600.

Pick your own components and let them build it for you. You'll save big on pre built models.

It's all the UFC bollocks now sadly :(
Speaking of I bought that new UFC game one night when bored and because it was in a sale, played it through once and never intend to go back to it, it’s boring and easy as hell unless you decide to try your hand at submissions. Those boxing fight night games were amazing, used to have some great bouts with my mates.

Anyone use any Scuf controllers and are they worth it if so?

Tbh I’m not sure. It’s been a while since I’ve played them and I’m scared them ageing badly will ruin the nostalgia for me.

Might buy it just to have it in my catalogue (RIP my Dreamcast) and to also support sales.

I played shenmue a few years back. The lack of a 2nd analogue stick to change the camera was a big headache but otherwise it was still good. I presume the remaster fixes the camera?

These cards are the very best though, and the average gamer has no need for them. It's for people with too much money. As with many other things in life the very best components are always terrible value for money. Building a new PC that runs new games well isn't that expensive.
I think my stumbling block here is knowing what components I'm going for.
http://reddit.com/r/buildapc/ is supposedly a pretty good community. Try looking at the general advice threads and other peoples' builds to get some ideas.

Whats the resolution of the monitor or tv you'll be using. That'll pretty much decide what graphics card you need. Unless its a 4k tv you'll be shopping at a very different end of the market to the above. Hell, they'd probably be overkill for 4k. You could get one for half the price of the cheapest one above that'll run everything at full settings at 1440p

Yeah, I watched the entire tournament. Some absolutely incredible games.
Can't believe OG actually won the whole thing. Some insane comebacks, but well deserved in the end. Been following the team since they formed Monkey Business, so I'm very happy for them - especially after the latest roster shuffle. First LAN tournament for Topson and he wins the entire thing - before this he had won like $4k  Ana was outstanding throughout, and the last game was one of the best performances I've ever seen.

Finished Dark Souls 3 main game and moved on to the DLC now. What the absolute feck where they thinking with Friede? Absurdly drawn out three-phase fight with a (fortunately skippable) cutscene before phase 2 and an annoyingly long, unskippable sequence before phase 3. It doesn't help that phase 3 is one of the most batshit crazy, Bloodborne-paced fights in the entire Soulsborne history but you have to go through the aforementioned phases and waits every fecking single time, only to die in mere instants to some insane attack. You don't get a chance to learn her patterns at all, and she has an absolute feck-ton of them.

God I'm so fecking frustrated right now!

@The Bloody-Nine did you solo this one?

I was burnt out on the games by the end of 3 so I didn't bother with that particular DLC. By the sounds of it, I'm glad I didn't buy it.

Well shit. I remember you mentioning Orphan of Kos, Fume Knight and Nameless King as your toughest opponents and was initially relieved that Friede wasn't among them. Now I see why. :( I'm feeling the fatigue as well, DS3's obsession with multiple health bar bosses is taking its toll on me. Three full health bars is just too much, it feels like difficulty for the sake of difficulty at this point.

So I tried Dying Light didn't really feel it tbh, main character was a dick and some tropey things going on with the story fetchy quests etc so I lost interest in that and played Until Dawn which I think was exactly what I was after, not too complicated and a good story. I can see me replaying it too to see how different things can pan out. I also bought the Shenmue remasters and Dead Cells.

Never played Shenmue but my mate always banged on about them and Shenmue 3 was his most wanted game, sadly he passed away about 2 weeks before the E3 reveal so I kinda feel like I owe it to play these. I generally good at accepting dated games for what they are so shouldn't be too much of a bother to play them.
