Didn't watch a lot of Germany and Bayern from 70's, but from what I watched Uli surprised me the most. All over the pitch, stamina, aggression, very good technique. Reminded me of peak Rooney in some way (which is 2006-2009 for me).

There you go @Fortitude, it was a blessing in disguise. You're welcome.
I really like that he forces action-reaction chains. Not a passenger as he'll make things happen one way or another.

And.. :lol: Thanks. Your benevolence has helped me greatly.

@Invictus if nobody else have objections, can we increase team's to 14 players with last 2 being optional at managers discretion?
The aim was to have somewhat constricted squads with just one substitute in Round 1 as that makes the whole affair a wee bit more challenging, but if everyone is in agreement about the expansion I won't stand in your way (majority rules and all).
Erm... @Invictus is Yashin an oversight, as in a name that was meant to be on the list, but never got round to? Can't be right?
Nope, definitely not an oversight — Yashin has really never won a draft (to the best of my knowledge at least); and in fact, @BIG DUNK messaged me to confirm his availability before making the pick. While he is no doubt a tier, or several, above the available goalkeepers, the position is chronically undervalued — and you can't build around him, or someone like Vogts, in the same way as a Di Stéfano (who would have been too big of a disruptor in the grand scheme). Who knows, this might be Yashin's chance to make a greater-than-usual individual impression, that reverberates across the entire defensive segment, and finally pop his draft cherry!

@King Kendrick

Billy Bremner

the complete midfielder. He was a great passer, he was quick, and strong(despite his small stature). He also had bags of energy that, combined with unrelenting determination to win, allowed him to run across every blade of grass during a 90-minute match

I'd say he was arguably Bayern's and Germany's most impressive forward after Gerd Müller during the early seventies-mid seventies period. He was absolutely rapid* and could play on either flank or as a LAM/RAM in a midfield trio. The impressive thing about him was that he was a great goalscoring threat but also a creative player. At his peak he had a 1 in 2 goalscoring record for Bayern but also dovetailed beautifully with Müller. A real shame about the career ending injury though.

Haha @BIG DUNK couldn't believe his eyes, either!

re. Vogts. I find that the most shocking revelation of this draft, tbh. Di Stefano doesn't belong in here, despite not having won a draft, but nor does Berti. He really looks like an outlier when his standing in the game is considered.

Ah crap apologies, using the phone at work I was looking at an earlier table

Fulvio Collovati regarded as one of Italy's best defenders during the 1970s and 1980s. An elegant, physically strong, and dynamic player, he was gifted with good technique and distribution, as well as excellent anticipation, movement, marking ability, heading, and aerial prowess; because of his many defensive attributes, he was considered Rosato’s heir at Milan

I'll take Gilberto Silva in my way to build to underrated XI and a 1st round exit.

That was some swift picking I'm still fixing up the list @harms :lol:
I wasn't even constantly refreshing it. Just decided to check out the thread randomly and somehow got it updated a few seconds after your pick :)

Guys, do update your times, please. It's way harder to do it retrospectively.
