Things in 2006 you'd get laughed at for saying would happen in football by 2016?

Liverpool to not win the league.

In 2006, we had won the Champions League and then the FA Cup and Rafa Benitez looked to be building a very strong side.

When it comes to CBs, there will be more talk about their ability with the ball than actual defending (and GK are slowly moving towards that discussion).

Whilst not completely in the spirit of this thread, who would have thought Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher would both go into punditry with Carragher the more popular pundit on a Manchester United forum come 2019.

eSports becoming a thing. Players being paid to play FIFA and it being watched by a global audience of thousands.

eSports was a thing in 2006, I mean fatal1ty was huge back then maybe the FIFA scene didn't exist but it was there. The thing you couldn't have predicted was prize money, it went from a handshake and a free mousepad to millions of pounds.

Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young will be our first choice full backs

Even 2006 that development was more than predictable. Counter-Strike, Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Quake already have shown where the development will go to.

Mourinho signs Zlatan for United

Ronaldo > Rooney

I was told I was nuts by all my friends at Uni and would often get in to heated arguments cause I dared to say Ronaldo was and would end up better than Rooney.

Even the United fans had the England glasses on.

Manchester City would win all three domestic trophies in the same season before United, Arsenal or Chelsea.

Spurs would win the Champions League before Arsenal.

The whole nightmare of everything thats happened since Ferguson retired would of been laughed at, by most of our fans.

I never in a million years would of believed we would of found our place in the league at 6th - 7th place..

Messi totally dominating football for all these years yet not win anything with Argentina. Ronaldo being so bloody good is not something I would have expected either.

At the time he was up and coming and chasing a lot of buzz at standard liege. Wouldnt have been ridiculous at all. Besides we were always linked to him anyway
Ah true I didn't know that. The picture was more for Moyes anyway but I thought I'd trigger some caf PTSD by posting this two-in-one package

City winning domestic treble and Pool about to win CL in the same season we finish 6th and trophyless.

City winning anything at all.

Hibs winning the Scottish Cup.

Wenger would be hated by a significant percentage of Arsenal fans.

Arsenal Fan TV

The World Cup would be given to Qatar and played in the Winter.

That a Manchester United squad would be so stuffed with Frauds, Fuds and Feckwits that I couldn't be arsed if you swapped any or all of them for a set of socket spanners.

City owned by oil money. 100 points league.
Liverpool and City 97-98 points race.
Man Utd finishing 7th and 6th.
Spurs in a UCL final.
Barça ruining +3 goals lead in UCL knockout games. Twice.
Brazil conceding 7 goals in a WC semifinal.
Ronaldinho not winning anything of merit after 2006.
