I was thinking there's a small chance he comes out to start the show, then I thought there's another slim chance he's the 5th person into War Games... But as soon as Randy showed up it was totally out of my mind as a possibility. Seems like most people in the arena too.

That Cena return is also definitely up there. Brock's first return after Mania too.

I basically flick between this and Garnacho's goal
People are sleeping on the rocks return just a couple of months ago. The pop was insane.

Sorry, how is it nonsense? Tony literally pulled him from a show in DC because he wanted his return to be in an AEW show and never allowed him back. It just went on from there.
It’s literally in his exit WWE interview, they wanted him to stay so much that they tried negotiating with NJPW but they couldn’t get it done.

Quote from Khan

Bryan Danielson In The G1 Would Be Great, But It'd Be Hard For Him To Disappear From AEW

Every fecking time I post you claim it’s nonsense yet here we are, everything coming true and AEW in free fall week after week. I don’t even watch the fecking thing anymore, completely lost my interest,

You might learn something
Because it is. You're the court jester in this thread.

Quote from Danielson himself last month...

“I have this whole full-time job in AEW, and I’m focused on everything I’m doing here,” said Danielson. “And as much as I like the idea of doing the G1, the whole idea of leaving my wife and kids for a month to go wrestle the hardest tournament in wrestling? At 42 while the injuries start to pile up? That’s one of those things that’s going to pass me by.”
I think Khan actually created this tournament for him in all honesty but what do I know. I only watch it.

I have this week off so watched a lot of Raw last night.

It is literally unwatchable. I don't know how people can sit through that live with all the advert breaks and the filler.

I could never get on board with the roster. I don’t like The Elite, Darby is a scumbag and I’ve said in this thread before gimmicks like Orange Cassidy and Danhousen are 90’s WWE but worse. Then you have wanna be bad asses like Jungle Boy….meh.

10 Canadian destroyers and 6 false finishes per match also got old after about 2 weeks.

The women’s division is just shite there’s no getting around it.

I could probably go on all day it’s just not for me
Dragon Lee vs Santos Escobar ended after 1 Canadian Destroyer.

It protects the move and the spot for the blow off match and was a welcome change compared to it being spammed.

Surely the GOAT return, in terms of crowd reaction, is when they announced the Rock as the host of WM? Loudest pop definitely goes to Austin during that Rock vs. Mankind title fight on Raw though.

I never watch it anymore. Just the highlights on YouTube. It's a waste of 3 hours.

I read beforehand that they were starting with Orton and ending with Punk.

Thank feck I didn't stay up because that promo was nothing. I'm sure the interactions with Rollins will be good but for a return promo? Load of wank.

This was my feeling watching it back in the gym this morning, I really tried to watch it through but even without the ads it was such a drag. I still hate how shiny everything is too.

Seth's got the go ahead to go with the hypocrite stuff and Punk delivers that trash, he's surely going to be heel in no time.

I just started to watch wrestling again and one thing that's strange is none of the factions look serious. They all act like clowns even the bloodline that's supposed to be serious. I used to love tag teams, but it seems like no one cares about that now.

Also, I heard that Roman Reigns is the real deal now. He's always just smirking and whenever he acts alpha, he's extremely monotonous with no depth to his character.

Enjoying it then?

I’ve only watched the main PPVs (rumble, mania, survivor series, summerslam..) for years now and I find it much more enjoyable that way and it doesn’t get boring. Might watch a bit more now that CM Punk is back and when Lesnar is back

That promo was so cheesy/corny/"fake" it surely has to be part of a longer picture/build.

Enjoyed Punk's return a lot and have probably replayed it more than 50 times. Not really enjoying the wrestling part as all the matches are the same and the in-ring storytelling is either missing or is forced. Also, in terms of storylines, nothing seems interesting.

As for the wrestlers, LA Knight is a throwback to the Attitude Era. Cody has improved a lot in terms of charisma although he is still a bit sloppy in the ring. Kevin Owens is incredible, and Sami Zayn is good.

I'd say the most unique return. The absurdity of it lurking kind of hurt the true surprise of it, even if them actually doing it, was a surprise, I'm not even sure that makes sense. But it just makes me wish he didn't do an AEW run at all really, that roof would of absolutely shattered if it were a genuine surprise going by the noise he generated when he was fully expected at AEW and here.

But, you know, still, maybe. But it's still no Cena at the RR 2008, forever the GOAT return, I didn't even like Cena at that point. Just an utterly absurd recovery.
Agreed, Cena at MITB a few years ago incredible too. But Saturday was mint. Great to see Orton back too.

Gonna take a stab at a few predos in the Continental Classic now week one is done:
  1. Swerve wins the Gold block.
  2. Kingston wins his Blue block and the final in New York.
  3. Kingston starts 0-2 and the story is he basically has to then win out (and get lucky) to qualify, probably beating Castagnoli again in his final match to pinch the Blue block on (unknown) tiebreakers.
  4. Nobody in the Blue block wins more than 3 matches and nobody fewer than 2.
  5. Briscoe beats Lethal in the final round of Gold block matches to avoid going 0-5 and condemns Lethal to it.
They should have really added semi-finals to this tournament.

Ah there's no semi finals? Yeah that's a mistake.

I think it's a Swerve v Danielson final.

I can see why people were underwhelmed with Raw. The promos were the best things. Ortons return promo, Codys promo, Seths promo and interruption with McIntyre, and then Punks promo.
The matches obviously weremeant to have meaning but the matches for next week are going to be better.

I enjoyed Punks promo. Hes a great talker and doesnt sound scripted. I think Raw now has a good crop of talkers which is great.

Orton is so good. His facial expressions and mannerisms are second to none.

Aldis took a fantastic bump on that RKO as well.

Commentators completely botched the end of Dynamite. Did they all forget that Copeland gave Nick Wayne a conchairto right in front of his mum?

Great promo by CM Punk. Referenced that AEW incident but not sure the crowd who were mostly servicemen and women got it.

This was the promo everyone wanted on RAW, he set up a whole bunch of potential feuds. The punching people line made me laugh out loud.

Seems so. Perfect opponent for him too in my opinion

One will eliminate the other from the Rumble to kick it off
