Palace came in today, and wanted to ensure as little possible football is played. So they:
- Bring defenders back on each goal-kick, then have the keeper wave them forwards
- Bring a trainer on no less than 4 times, and only in one case did the player stay off the pitch for more than 10 seconds afterwards. All were fine to continue.
- Leave every throw in for a different player.
And what was the strong, principled referees response? 5 minutes added on. With 6 subs too. So maybe an incremental minute?
It's an excellent strategy for anti-football teams, and will continue to work because the referees are an absolute shambles at enforcing it.
