I agree with the tier system:
Jostling for greatest of all-time:
Pelè, Maradona, Messi
Gods of the game:
Di Stefano, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Puskas
Phenomenons at what they did:
C. Ronaldo, Xavi, Platini, Müller, Best, Charlton, Zico
X-factor - the great unknown:
Ronaldo
Excluding defenders sans Beckenbauer because it gets really messy, really quickly.
Chopping it down to 10:
1. Pelè
2. Messi
3. Maradona
4. Di Stefano
5. Cruyff
6. Beckenbauer
7. C.Ronaldo
8. Puskas
9. Ronaldo
10. Platini
Truth be told, top 3 is a blind pick; could alternate on any given day. But the only other player with individual ability to breach that trio is Ronaldo and he was on direct course to that before his knees exploded.
Incidentally, C.Ronaldo is the outlier in the whole 10 list as the only player who gets on without having the ability to control a game. Testament to him.
Tried to go by pure individualism and ability to turn a game as such an entity as that's important for a top 10
