My top 10 would be
  • The Office
  • Friends
  • Arrested Development
  • Seinfeld
  • It's always sunny in Philadelphia
  • Parks and Rec
  • Curb your enthusiasm
  • That '70s show
  • The Simpsons
  • Scrubs
I haven't seen many of the old ones (90s and older). Anyone can come up with a better list? I have only included shows that have either ended or have had enough seasons to make up our mind about them.

EDIT: removed two and a half men from the list after some strong suggestions!

I'd swap out Two and a Half Men and That 70's Show for The Simpsons and Community. I'd put The Simpsons at the top. There's nothing better than Season 3 to 10.

I'd also want Flight of the Conchords in there too. Probably at the expense of Friends.

The only way that list is acceptable is if you have only ever seen ten shows.

Actually, even then the order is still a disgrace.
That's why they are not numbered! Just top 10. What's your list?

Fawlty Towers
Father Ted
IT Crowd
Spaced
I'm Alan Partridge
Curb your Enthusiasm
Black Books
Fleabag
15 Storeys High
Flight of the Conchords

Edit:Oh, and Two and a Half Men and Mrs. Brown's Boys of course.
Edit 2: given that at least one person thinks I actually like the above two shows I must clarify I do not and I mentioned them as they are risibly bad and one appeared in the OP.

Not to be pedantic, but Scrubs is not a sitcom.

Also, I really liked off centre..

Oh and Fawlty Towers.

Not in order:

Friends
Frasier
Arrested Development
It's Always Sunny
Only Fools and Horses
Fawlty Towers
Curb Your Enthusiasm
30 Rock/Parks and Rec (yeah I cheated, I'm counting them together)
Malcolm in the Middle
Everybody Loves Raymond :nervous:

Peep Show
Always Sunny
Only Fools and Horses
Larry Sanders Show
Curb
Father Ted
The IT Crowd
30 Rock
The Office
Blackadder

Not seen Blackadder in years and I don't think I'll ever watch it again as it's probably aged dreadfully but I used to love it.

I thought a sitcom has a fixed camera and canned laughter? Scrubs even did a what if episode about bring a sitcom. I might be confused.
Situation Comedy: fixed set of recurring characters in some sort of recurrent setting. I'd define it something like that.

No, the audience/fixed cam stuff is just a format. A sitcoms from my understanding is just a comedy show - quite literally a situation comedy. Camera's, audience, set has little to do with if it's a sitcoms or not

the simpsons
frasier
fawlty towers
married... with children
blackadder
bottom
cheers
south park
the wonder years
seinfeld

in random order that is.

- It's Always Sunny
- Seinfeld
- Community
- Curb Your Enthusiasm
- Fawlty Towers
- Cheers
- Father Ted
- I'm Alan Partridge
- Married with Children
- The Golden Girls

Not sure about the order other than the first two. It got tough at the end leaving out MASH, Third Rock from the Sun, It's Only Fools and Horses and Blackadder. Also not having a sho where Tony Danza plays a man named Tony is obviously a crime on my part.

I honestly have no clue why people rate Friends so highly, it's not even funny, those people are just annoying. You'd break Chandler's jaw within hours of meeting him.

Yeah, it has nothing to do with the cameras. Quite a few of the ones mentioned are sitcoms and don't have canned laughter.

I was fecking joking. No-one likes Mrs. Brown's Boys. Top ten list then two (obviously not) obvious piss takes.
Thank feck.

It's apparent that my knowledge of British TV shows is non-existent. I guess these shows are just not as popular as the American ones in my country.

Peep show, Father Ted and The IT Crowd are worth a watch for sure. Blackadder and Only Fools and Horses would be horribly dated now.

Blackadder holds up really well. It feels like it shouldn't due to the ugly video it was shot on.

If The Simpsons is a sitcom then The Simpsons is the best sitcom, despite probably being bad for longer than it was good.

Cheers bud. Will get to them once I finish watching Veep which is pretty decent actually once I got past the first few episodes.

Curb Your Enthusiasm
Frasier
Bottom
The Simpsons
Peep Show
Father Ted

As you admit, you haven't seen many of the old ones. Fawlty Towers is just brilliant, and The Good Life and Dads Army are simply timeless.

I'm not familiar with the shows post 1990 (to be honest, I pretty well stopped watching television at that point).

1. Seinfeld
2. 30 Rock
3. Cheers
4. Three's Company
5. Frasier
6. Mork and Mindy
7. Soap
8. South Park
9. It's Gary Shandling's Show
10. The Simpsons
