First call (Tier 2):

Benrahma's transfer collapsed at midnight. Although everything had been signed for hours between the 2 clubs, and between OL and the player, West Ham did not enter the correct information in the TMS, which scuppered the transfer.

The player is furious, his family is stunned and OL is in a state of total incomprehension and is due to make a statement shortly... an appeal to FIFA cannot be ruled out for this incredible turn of events.

The meeting had gone well in the afternoon and the DNCG had approved the deal much earlier in the evening. All the documents between the 2 clubs had been signed for hours, and between the player and the club too. The shirts had been flocked and the photos taken. It's a thunderclap.

Reasons for the failure of Saïd Benrahma's transfer

Olympique Lyonnais were delighted to welcome Saïd Benrahma to Lyon on Thursday to complete his transfer from West Ham. The two clubs had signed a temporary transfer agreement, and Olympique Lyonnais had obtained the approval of the DNCG to allow the transfer to proceed smoothly and transparently.

However, by early evening, while Olympique Lyonnais had entered all the administrative data on FIFA's dedicated platform (FIFA TMS), West Ham had never initiated the slightest technical procedure on its part, despite repeated reminders from OL and ongoing mutual telephone communication.

In the absence of this reciprocal action on the part of the English club and following this incomprehensible behaviour, which raised questions, the international transfer certificate could not be requested before the closing time.

Olympique Lyonnais deeply regrets this situation and this decision, which demonstrates a profound lack of respect on the part of West Ham towards the institution and the player.

The club reserves the right to initiate all appropriate procedures necessary to validate the transaction at a later date, and to hold West Ham accountable if necessary.
