Dear United fans

I am a researcher with the University of Manchester currently working on a research project on fandom identity in England. The purpose of the study is to investigate how football fans construct their identity and how/whether fandom can be characterised as a lifestyle.

To gain insight into this phenomenon, I obviously need help from the fans themselves. In informal interviews the participants will be asked to describe their life as a football fan and engage in a discussion with the researcher.

Ten people will be asked to take part in maximum two interviews with the researcher at the length of 2-3 hours each in a period of four weeks in July and August 2014. If possible, the interviews will be conducted in the participant’s home, however, alternative arrangements can also be made.
The project will unfortunately not be able to offer paid participation, however your contribution will be highly appreciated. This is a great opportunity for you to participate and contribute to exciting research within a field of your interest, while you also may learn a thing or two about yourself as a fan as well.
If you would like to participate please send an e-mail to eivind.holth@postgrad.manchester.ac.uk for further information.

Hope to see some of you soon!

Kind regards
