Socialism!?

Texas?!

What the hell?!
You know I sometimes think that these stories should not get promoted because I could see right wingers targetting them just for the sake of being cruel. :(

But the positive side of me then thinks, how else will Americans actually be exposed to good actions by the state?

Anyone else starting to see the distinct shift in right wing talk from "authoritarianism via patriotic freedom" ideology to just outright authoritarianism?? Ban books, take children from parents based solely on their political beliefs etc. I think the mass of the right wing has given up the "freeeeedumb" shtick.

It’s been said many times before… Y’all Qaeda would be completely fine with a conservative Christian theocracy taking over.

Oh no doubt, and maybe I'm just late to realising it, but I'm seeing more and more news articles that have outright direct quotes about banning books, taking children, justification for dictatorship. However instead of being dresses up in "I want to undertake a coup for freedumb' it's now just plainly said as I want to steal children because of political beliefs, coups are fine, ban books that do not conform to ideological belief. There's no sugarcoat it with their "patriotism" any more.

That feels like a direct distinct shift.

Weird group to me, the Log Cabin Republicans. Outside of fiscal issues, just don’t see where the connection is…

Oh definitely, it’s been a long time coming.

The GOP ought to split itself into 2 entities at this rate. I can see Trumpists on one side and Reaganists (I'm making that last name up, but that could be a designation for more traditional Republicans) on the other. Seriously, the greatest thing for the US would be the emergence of a 3rd and perhaps even a 4th political party when you think most democratic countries usually have 3 or 4 strong parties, who have to make deals to pass the agenda.

They would have to change their system then. Winner takes it all doesn't lend itself well to more than two parties.

And if either the DNC or GOP split at the moment while the other remained intact, it would guarantee the other side the WH for a long time.

Democrats won't want that. That's the end of them.

Republican will always be republican, they won't be swayed (much) by 3rd 4th or 5th party, at best they don't vote. A third party would only chipped Democrats vote.

"Right to bear arms".

The Supreme Court may as well have a stamp made that says that.

Anyone bringing a case that looks to reduce the number of guns or where/when/who can carry them (you know... basic common sense stuff) can just be stamped and kicked out.

Speedy justice. Stupid as well but speedy.

America is such a fecking absurd place.

In the wake of another school shooting that left 19 kids and two teachers dead, 9 people decide that every citizen should be allowed to bear an assault rifle for “self protection” at all times.

This was handguns. In most states you can open carry a rifle more easily than conceal (or open) carry a handgun, since they are used more often against people to commit crimes, and have no function other than shooting people (i.e. not used for hunting).

Oh shit them boys gonna be wildin' in no time.
Not really since only 7 states will have to change a few laws (and creating a few new ones) the other 43 states have a lot of people carrying concealed guns and they aren't the problem, the new gun bill for example is ok except the red flag law since is been abused in some states (ex's, divorces, etc), also the fact they go at night to someone's house and in some cases don't even knock with homeowners shot dead because they grabbed a gun thinking someone is breaking in.
