Full disclosure, I live in Georgia now, but pay attention to my home state. DeSantis is like a dog with a bone re: destroying anything what he deems is ‘woke.’ He is unrelenting. This all stems from Disney coming out against the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill being passed that would limit gender identity & sexual orientation discussion in public education. Speaking specifically of Walt Disney World in Florida, a very large part of the workers at the resort, etc. are gay; Disney totally has skin in the game. DeSantis is laser focused on hurting Disney at the ground level by removing their self governance & has fecked over other professional entities in Florida for being against his edicts (removed a line item in the budget for the Rays’ new minor league complex because the Rays tweeted about needing gun control after Uvalde; levied a multimillion dollar fine against the Special fecking Olympics for initially having a Covid vaccine mandate for its event).
If it was anyone but DeSantis, cooler, more logical heads would have never even got to this point as everyone benefits from Disney, all sides were copacetic with the arrangement for decades. But it’s a culture war issue which is all DeSantis basically is as a politician. Teachers & librarians have had to remove all their books from classrooms, all of them, as it’s easier & safer for them to not wade into a felony charge if a book has anything to do with DEI or sexuality in it.
Toss in a severe Napoleonic complex, you have the most dangerous politician in the country right now. It will be grand for Florida once DeSantis is no longer governor, but that will mean the country would potentially be about to suffer irreparable damage as he could be president.

If there's any silver lining it might be that corporations will no longer view the GOP as the business friendly party anymore if they keep up with shenanigans like this.

The same way other big corporations do I guess, I'm not familiar with rules on this but the likes of the Koch brothers, Bloomberg etc have spent 100's of millions so there must be a way
