This is a massive decision at this point in the season. Got to admit that it is exciting to watch this relegation battle.

Surely something has happened behind the scenes. I wonder if he's been naughty (Tommy Doc, style)?

I seem to remember a point this season where people on were hailing Watford for showing how things should be done regarding managers.

His contract was only until the end of the season anyway, and it's the Pozzo family. They change it up every year.

Looking at how Bournemouth are going today Watford are practically safe anyway. Probably a mix of feeling they're sort of safe but bring in someone just to give them an extra bounce just in case and that they were always going to replace him anyway because that's what they do. They hire a new manager nearly every summer by the looks of it, it's just bringing it forward ever so slightly.

I wonder if the price for sacking him was less than any bonus he was promised for keeping them up.

So they've sacked him before Watford are officially safe?

At this point, why would any manager take the Watford job?

You're practically indispensable and I think that only a manager who could use them as a springboard to serve his own interests would go there at this point. Marco Silva did that and ended up at Everton and I think the next decent manager who comes their way would do the same.

Going 3-0 down to Moyes must have been the last straw

Seriously though agree with most on here. Don’t get it. Why not just wait til the seasons done now

You mean dispensable/expendable right?

He must of done something behind the scenes... otherwise I just can't fathom the owners being this cynical, even for Watford's standards.
They could lose to City on Tuesday and effectively be safe if Villa lose a few hours later depending on what the goal difference looks like

Are you sure?

Yes, because the theory of the new manager bounce doesn't matter
Not even that theory. Watford seem to always sack their manager at the end of the season, no matter what

Surely they'll only manage to get a caretaker in for the rest of the season as no "real" manager will want a relegation on his CV?

this is possibly an even more absurd decision than sacking Javi Gracia after 3 games

Something must have happened behind the scenes

Think this has less to do with new manager bounce than getting rid of a divisive character who tires everyone out once he gets going. Was weird when he was sacked after that great end of season for Leicester too.

Interesting theory. Seems somewhat plausible knowing that these owners are a bit madcap. We've heard of players being sidelined for similar reasons so why not a manager? Things like if a player played a certain number of games in a season they'd get a new contract, earn a bonus or have a loan deal made permanent. Then when they're one game away they get dropped and never play again despite being important before that. It happens.

They have won 2 of their last 3 games, he’s done an alright job and a point will be enough for them to stay up I know it’s vs Arsenal and City.

Villa are woeful no chance they are winning two games in a row

This was a daft decision. Hope they get relegated now.

Pearson is weird and crazy. Something else must have happened.

Watford are going to follow Sunderland's path to league one. 4 managers in a season?
