I think it will be really close between the top 4 teams this season, but we are still a CDM and a top class goalscorer away from having a realistic chance to win the league.

And when the board are som slow when it comes to buying and selling players, it might take a while.

Fan previews in The Guardian: Premier League 2021-22 fan previews, part two: Liverpool to Wolves | Football | The Guardian

Not exactly scientific of course, but maybe a reasonable indication of the broad outlines of expectation among fans around the league. It doesn't seem to be a widely shared expectation that we'll win the title, to put it gently. Only one of the previews think so, guess which. :)

But I like that. We've something to prove, and we may have enough quality that we will.
With the number of oppo fan's childhoods that United has ruined, every one of those will look down on our chances as much as possible. I'm certain these sorta predictions would have had us much lower than 2nd last season or 3rd the season before.

Anyway, even if it's a very difficult task, this is the most confident I've been of United winning the league in years.

Defensively we will be the strongest unit in the league. Surely our goals conceded is going to be reduced with Varane and Maguire as CB pairing.

Attacking wise we should be able to break low block teams with Sancho signing. Hope that Martial can get back to his best. Our attacking quality is one of the best in the league.

There is a big problem in midfield area. We have top players in Bruno and Pogba. But the biggest issue is we can never play them together without a proper DM. Even with the guys being mentioned like Camavinga, Neves these two cannot play together. What we need is someone like Ndidi who can sit back and break the opposition attacks. These players are rare and there is no one available at this moment.

This is City's title to lose. Hope we are the ones who can grab it if City can't win the league.

All nostalgic sentiment aside, Utds weakest link is the pragmatic manager, therefore extremely unlikely to win the league, though I would love to be proved wrong.

Nope, we have the squad to win it. No other team is perfect, City won the league without a striker. Our weakest link is our manager, therefore, we will not win it.

Nah… We could win the league, but not because we have the superior squad, especially if City (in addition to Grealish) also buy Kane.

With the money we have spent, which is ridiculous amount under Ole, If we don't win the league next season it's a massive failure. You can put every sort of spin on it for Ole but you don't spend this type of money to finish in the top four again and fail to qualify out of CL group-stages
Everything is relative. Your argument totally depends on how much money City, Chelsea etc spend this summer.

The PL title isn’t a non failed mission. By saying that it is, you maybe want us to fail and feel some kind of pleasure if we do?

This season is the most confident I’ve felt post-Fergie

Think we have the second best XI and Man City will prioritise the Champions League over the Premier League in the second half of the season. Whereas United will 100% prioritise the League

Chelsea have hit their high and tend to be a ticking time bomb after that happens. Liverpool can’t be forgotten but I don’t think Van Dijk will hit his peak again and their front 3 needs shaking up.

Predicted we will win the league. The only one stopping us is if City get Kane, and perhaps how good Lukaku show up at Chelsea. Else, we easily have the best team to win. And I feel that city will focus more on champion league this season, that they will not be as competitive in the league. So perhaps Chelsea will be our only real challenger

Found this quite interesting. Out of 20 experts asked, none picked us to win the league and two picked us as runner-ups. All of them has in the top four, however.
I think that's pretty fair. I think the top 4 is ahead of the rest and Chelsea and City form a top 2 who will be fighting for the title a month or two after the others are out of it.

Having only 2 out of 20 pick us to come second, after we did it last season comfortably with all sorts of issues in the first half of the year, is fecking stupid I'm sorry.

The obsession of Chelsea on this forum is quite something. You'd think they were prime Barca

I think city need a striker - Kane would obviously help but if they don't get a good one they might struggle to score enough - I think Liverpool's front 3 are getting on a bit & might run out of gas - Chelsea with a firing Lukaku are a worry but he didn't exactly fire for us so - If Sancho & Varane settle well I predict we win it :)

Very strange to see this kind of confidence on this forum. Hope the good vibes can last for a while.

Think it will be Chelsea though. With CL in the bag and a new striker known for performing against the lesser sides, they can really storm the league this year.

Then again, it's Chelsea, so just as easily they could have imploded by New Year's

It’s more strange for Utd fans to continue bugging up Chelsea to ridiculous levels. Why wouldn’t Utd fans be confident with the team we have?

I just meant it's unusual to see on here.

We WILL win the league this season. In Greenwood we have the best striker. Bruno is the best AM. Maguire best CB. Shaw best LB.The additions Sancho and Varanne will strengthen us even more. Fred is getting goals and Pogba is the best player on the planet. Not only that we've got harmony in the squad and probably a manager that is the perfect fit for our club.

Well they won the CL like prime Barca. I reckon they'll finish ahead of us. They had issues in the first half of the season as well and they fixed them by bringing in Tuchel.

Over the years I’ve learnt that anything can happen, if we perform like today regularly then it’s going to be close. Chelsea I feel are going to be challenging, City although might prioritise the CL will still be up there. I think we finish 2nd!!!

I think it is so close that key injuries will be what decides who wins the league.

Make no mistake, a lot of things will have to go our way for us to win the league. I feel we're still short in midfield and lack the striker to make the difference. I don't think anyone is expecting Cavani to have a 25-30 goal season and it's unfair to expect Greenwood to as I don't think he's quite there yet.

Having said that, this could be Greenwood's breakthrough season, Pogba could carry on and go up a few levels, Varane could have a massive impact on our defence (this is quite realistic) and Sancho could transform our attacks and automatically make us a more threatening proposition to challenge for the title. Either way, a lot of things have to go right... but they may well do :smirk:

I have a feeling City might lose against Spurs... it being the first game, a new manager boost and Spurs at home with crowds back.

Then City will hammer Arsenal.

First season for a while I'm thinking we have a good chance, we're not favourites i would put city and Chelsea above us but there's not much in it and with a bit of good fortune maybe just maybe.

The caf overrates Chelsea so much. You would think they're loaded with superstars.

I still remember after the summer transfer window last year, so many thought they were a level above us and we still finished above them in the league.

We can easily finish above them again.

Where is all the Chelsea love coming from? They won a champions league final against a team who didn’t think they needed a midfield.
