What do you hate about this World Cup ?

Two things really, but they are not specific to the World Cup.

Diving/embellishment and blatant time wasting.

The American coverage is better than ours, I miss it.

Only the diving is pissing me off but there's nothing new there.

the money spent by brasil which would better suit their citizenry if spent on other services.

The worst part about this world cup is that a big part of its reputation will be Saurez biting a man, sadly. Its been a fantastic spectacle and that has been one serious dark spot that will be mentioned for decades. fecking hate that rat.

Ridiculous thread. If anyone hates this World Cup, then stop watching it and instead go see Transformers. It grossed over 100m this weekend.

Some people just like finding anything to be bitter about.

2) The eye-candy shot while the ball is in play

Cameramen, yes I know you have been instructed to capture the hot chick with a nice rack and face into your lens but for ffs, don't switch the live shot to that chick while the ball is in play. It is annoying when the producer realizes the match has continued and he switches the live shot midplay.

You ..

What..

Fifa favoring brazil, poor ref decisions and not enough close ups of hot chics.

the cameraman finding fit girls is not new, and quite frankly is fecking awesome. Some of them, holy shit!:drool::drool:

Come to think of it... crowd cameraman during a World Cup must be a dream job for any voyeur. :D

This is so true, and it's not remotely funny.

Brasil will get approximately 35 million dollars, if reports are to be believed, as a social fund to 'compensate for areas of Brazil negatively affected by the world cup. That is, health services, social care, Housing........This is after Blatter pledged to give 100 million dollars after protests following the Confederation Cup, the same amount given to South Africa in 2010, again as a 'social fund'. This is coming from an organisation with appoximately 1.4 billion in its vaults. By the time Fifa leaves Brazil it will have taken 4.5 Billion, tax free onto into its next destination. The World Cup cannot be beneficial, in economic and social terms for the Brazilian population. How can it be when the figure spent preparing for this World cup is in the region of 11 -14 Billion Dollars.

Such a terrible and lop-sided analysis.

Anyway, on topic:

There is nothing that I really "hate" about this world cup. It's been exciting, and relatively competitive even in the "thrash" matches. I went into this tournament with a pretty shitty overall opinion of international football, especially after the last world cup and recent international matches. But this has gone some way to change my opinion.

Then, please enlighten me.

Because you're stupid if you believe the only money Brazil make from this world cup are the winnings they make from where they finish.

True, it may be that they lose on net, but hosting a world cup provides a host of benefits, both economical and non-economical. These gains are often long term and extremely hard to quantify.

I've never thought I'd say this but the hate on Greece irks me a bit. Maybe not the hate per se but double standards at best when it comes to rating their performance in Brazil. We saw Costa Rica defending deep with ten men and guess what - 'terrific spirit', 'totally deserved!'. Now the reactions after Greece earned a goal-less drawy against Japan (playing with ten men for roughly 60 minutes!) - 'anti-football', 'they're killing the game'.

The Greeks had one terrible game against Colombia, one well-earned draw against Japan and played good football against Ivory Coast. Deserved to go through. Then they met Costa Rica whom the played of the park for most of the game creating chance after chance. Guess what? 'Fully deserved win for Costa Rica', 'Glad that Greece feck off home'. The general consensus is that Greece kicked life out of football and all footie fans should be happy to see them beaten. It's as if most of the people had fixed views on their performances before the WC had kicked off. And for the record, I was one of those who bemoaned their qualification for the tourney just before it had started (in their group's threat).

They have been vomit inducing in the past and may continue to be so but they were far from the worst or most boring teams out there this time round.

People still remember Greece '04, the current team is nothing like them in terms of defending (much worse) and style (much better to look at). I think they will have this tag attached to them for a good while in spite of not deserving it for quite some time now. They play much better football than Costa Rica.

The amount of drama queen in this wrold cup.

A lil bad ref here and there and there's cry of conspiracy and all the other shit, heck people even made thread about "awarding the goal to david luiz" and some even want to quit football over it.

Seems to me that not only the footballers are getting softer, the fans are equally soft these days.

To be fair, I believe those people were just being sarcastic.

There's nothing I hate about this World Cup, for me, it's been one of the best in recent memory... Well, actually, I do regret not putting a cheeky £10 on Costa Rica getting out of the group lol

Like you, being bitter about people being bitter. Take your own advice and ignore it?

Great World Cup, but why are there only about 5 good centre halves in the world?

How the replays of the goals take so long to be shown. You see virtually the entire celebration and the walk back into the re-start position.

I think the Drama Queenery is to do with the widening appeal of the game, and some of the 'fans' just in it for the event and have a different relationship with the sport and are led by the newspapers and media and not their eyes and experience. The worst I have ever seen was middle Ireland's reaction to Henry's handball. The country, most of whom had only a passing interest were outraged, they even marched on the French embassy in protest. This 'outrage' did start on the sports pages, but it would have died, but when daytime radio and TV got a hold of it the scale was really quite embarrassing.

I hate the fact there is no Vuvuzelas!!! There still ringing in my ear from the last world cup

The amount of trolls on the forums, some people tend to twist reality out of frustration that the country they supported didnt do as they wanted. Combine that with a great amount of fanaticism and a troll is born. Some of them do amuse me though.

And the fact that almost everyone that is knocked out says they are a 'victim' of some sorts.

Not a lot to dislike. I agree that the shots of people in the crowd is a bit irritating.

The thing that bugs me is the insistance on showing the goalline replays even when the ball was clearly nowhere near being in. In the game yesterday I think it was Holland who hit the post with the ball rebounding away, and they insist on showing that when the ball hits the post, no, its not in the net.

Fifa with their new toy.

The only thing that REALLY annoys me above anything else is that Pig Adrian Chiles... I actually complained about him to ITV and I normally would never do such a thing

On the USA point, you may disagree with the OP but I think that there has been a general tendency to highlight how popular football seems to be in the US at the moment (as a result of this world cup) rather than consider how popular football actually is. Coverage has overplayed the ones who are converting and not the ones who already like the sport and that's the real shame for me. Compared with everybody else, it's getting some special treatment in terms of how sympathetic TV coverage (especially the BBC) is towards new-fans now that their national team is finally doing well.

It struck me most after the Germany - USA game where the first thing they did after Germany's 1-0 win was discuss the USA. Despite Germany's win and potential world-cup winning team they prioritised talking about the USA.

Defnititely this but when you think about it, they'll need 2/3 tournaments to shake it off. Even then, it may not help seeing as they'll be remembered for playing negative tactics in Brazil which is totally unwarranted. Unfair. I preferred watching Greece to the likes of Portugal, Honduras, Costa Rica, Croatia, Russia just to name a few.

Costa Rica, poor side that should be nowhere near a last 8 game. I think a few championship sides would hump them.

Manly macho footballers who falls and rolls around by the slightest touch and i guess dirty tricks in general. Unfairness and filth in this sport is spreading out of control.

By far and wide the way the refereeing officials have majorly ochestrated the outcome of games tops my list. Should have expected this as after all its a competition run by FIFA.

Russia were the ultimate shit on stick team at this World Cup. Absolutely dreadful football.

Well they've won 3 of their 4 games conceding just two goals, and those were not games against poor sides either.
