What is the current view on Ryan Giggs?

I Was reading through this Athletic article and it's such a weird/awkward situation he finds himself in. I think those of us who are old enough will never forget him as a player but his off-the-field 'activities' will probably always make me think about him completely differently.

Is there a way back for him realistically? Could we ever see him being involved at the club again? I know fairly recently he was in the director's box (2021 maybe?)

Just reading that now.

Best thing for him currently I’d say is that he gets his head down and does well at the DoF job with Salford. He’ll soon get his due if he ends up finding some talents and implementing successful structures to them

In a few years I think he’ll be fine returning to United. Obviously would be more difficult if he’d have been found guilty

Don't sign old players and cast offs
One of my two favourite players, so far. Strong indications he's a bit of a twat but his mates seem to have stood by him, which is odd. Always came across as a nice guy in interviews, but I suppose we're all a mixture of good and bad.

I don't think he ever could turn things around. Fantastic player, would have been sung about at every game, but he is now rightly ignored a lot because of his mistakes.

Don't think he'll ever work for or at the club again.

But then again, people don't seem to have an issue with the George Best statue.

Fantastic player who gave us everything on the pitch. Greatest ever PL player. The less said about his off the pitch stuff the better.

Local people in Worsley seemed to think the girlfriend court case thing might have been a bit of 6 of one type of thing. Cheating on his wife with his sister-in-law is just plain weird though. In retrospect all the class of 92 are a bit strange, Becks probably being the least so.

What else have the '92 done (genuine question) I know there was Scholes toe sucking or something but the others??

Amazing player who if anything seems to be getting more underrated by the season.

Absolute scumbag off it however in how he treated his family

Incredible player, legend of the game and obviously a massive cnut of a person.

I do find it odd how he's basically been whitewashed from PL history though. Acknowledging he's a hall of famer/most medals, great goals and performances he's scored doesn't mean you agree with everything else he's done. They don't have to glorify him but I find acting like he never existed a bit weird, especially since his charges were dropped so those "in the eyes of the law" folks should be all over it.

I think of Giggs as the player not the person.

He was a wizard of a player, so under rated and it actually pisses me off why people do best IXs and so they can fit in Ronaldo and Salah in the team, they push Ronaldo onto the left when Ronaldo played predominantly for united on the RW and was David Beckhams replacement. Giggs gets the LW position in my all time IX

From what I know of him as a person, he isn't someone I would want to know. They say never meet your heros, I will never look to meet him. I'd rather just remember him on the football field.

Amazing player but is responsible for my cynical outlook on players in real life. I used to say him and Cantona were my favourite players growing up but now it’s just Cantona.

Awkward's the word for me. Even on stuff like The Overlap, he's mentioned in a passing historical context ('the midfield that day was Carrick and Giggsy, they did a great job' etc.) and then the conversation moves on. He's not been invited onto that programme, which he 100% would have been by now, nor any other in a long time because of the stink hanging over his personal life. Big jobs in football are also closed for the same reason.

For me it's understandable that no-one wants to touch him, given the potential for more horrid skeletons to come tumbling out of the cupboard, but perhaps as years pass he may find a way back into prominent roles in the game.

Should've posted in the CE forum and we'd have had a few "Overrated as a player but seems a decent guy at least!"

Gary is a productivity wankstain with an aggressive need to please non-United fans to stay relevant in football terms, Butt had wife beating charges against him at one point, Scholes has a slightly strange personal life but tbf he's probably on the spectrum so I'm not for judging, Phil seems to live in his brother's shadow but is perhaps the nicest of the bunch, and Becks has a weird megastar lifestyle and thick kids but he seems very nice with it anyway.

Especially when they have no problem sucking off players with arguably worse in their past such as john terry

Didn’t the HoF thing kick off around the time of his court case, or when it was pending? Think it was just a case of bad timing for Giggs. If it started after the case got dismissed they likely would have included him as the first pick as originally intended. They could of course reverse that decision now but probably feel a bit silly doing so. Maybe they’ll sneak him in a bit later when time has healed a bit more.

As others have said, fantastic player, terrible person. Not convinced that he is a bigger cnut that Best was, though, but times have changed and he's unlikely to ever be involved in the club again.

Ryan is like most celebrated people who excel in what they are paid to do, but their personal life is a millstone around their necks. Very few people can restore their faith in their icons when its revealed they have 'feet of clay'.

As others have suggested he would be better sticking at Salford, keeping his head down and working hard.

I have no ill will against him.
I just want to move away from nepotism.
We need to focus on hiring the best available staff....not people who played for us x number of years ago, so should get a job for life.
Nepotism is what has led to our failures over the last 10 years.

Didn't the judge formally enter not guilty verdicts? I seem to have read both.
